Serious Old People Problems Rolled Up Into a Newbie

Hey Everybody,

So a few things about me, Wow, I really hate this stuff. Seriously... Anyway, I am an Army Veteran (disabled) I have a service dog his name is Mr Big. He pretty much runs the show around here lol. In Out In OUt etc.

I have been a long haul trucker most of my life and got interested in learning how to make an extra income online back in 2012. I went to a few symposiums and conferences and couldn't really figure out what to do. I mean really there are so many different online biz models. So I explored quit a few, failed at them all and spent tons of money in the process.

The only thing that has remained a constant since 2012 is my love for collecting domain names. I know, it's weird, it's like buying shoes, how many do I need right? they are all in evergreen niches and Some are madeup from popular search terms, I have picked a few up at expiring domain auctions, a couple are expired but still have some juice.

So I have been thinking about maybe setting up a couple provate PBNs and selling products or info, not really sure. I have placed a few of the nicer domains up for sale to gather some extra cash for whatever the product/project is going to be.

I have kinda been a lurker on & off to this forum since 2012, (can you relate?)mostly because people that I had been seeing giving presentations on how to make sales online would say not to use any black-hat methods, then they would outline their method and I'd come here to find out what they were doing was really black-hat or at best "grey-hat". Who Knew? LOL I felt like that was really wrong of people to do, not the black-hat so much as deliberately misleading prospects about what they are doing. I mean call a spade a spade for petes sake. That said, I really have a problem with scammers or people that tend to "mislead" or "leave out important information" in their products or services, so I am glad to finally join this forum as everybody seems really helpful and straightforward.

I'm pretty much just figuring out a way forward and having spent NGL 10's of thousands on domains, reseller hosting( I have a huge panel largely unused space on it), training after training, services, products, internet service while travelling (the longer I think about it really, the sicker I get over it):

domain flipping
social media marketing (all kinds pretty much)
plugins
software
online services that seem to disappear in a few weeks/months
wordpress (sorta)
email marketing (I so suck at this)
affiliate marketing (I suck at this too)

(that leaves out important ingredients), courses, etc., I think the biggest thing may be that I have no idea how to put it all together and it seems so dam complicated. I feel like a kindergartner trying to understand and implement a college class. I'm at a point I am ready to make some of that back, and be successful, and replace my income. LOL

So reading through this, I sound kinda whiny, ICK, I'm not whiny for real, I'm frustrated as f**k. Yes, I cuss sometimes, I'm old, it's a right.

So if you can feel my pain even a little then you know I got yours too.

Any constructive suggestions/help/direction is appreciated.

Oh. PS. I should mention that sometimes I speak fluent sarcasm,not to hurt or bully, I was just knda raised that way - Dad was a Marine...comes with the territory I guess.

So, thanks all for reading this, thanks for a great community, and thanks for all the stuff I'm learning and using. If anybody is intrested in some trucking guidance let me know, it's about all I have really indepth life experience in. Oh or Keto Dieting, I rock that shit hard! Or service dogs, I did my service dog's basic training before he went for task training. I should really post a couple pics of his goofy ass self.

I am also newbie like you , but don't giveup . Read the BHW I am sure you will find something good . Stick to one until you get some money . Plan like that .

Perserverance is key, so they say! I think that if you have had this much patience then you will eventually find that one thing that will work.

People are eager to pay for info/products that work these days, and dieting is a very big niche and always will be. Pets and dogs specifically is another one too, and i bet there are lots of truckers out there that would like to spend less hours on the road too if a fellow trucker that they can connect to manages to find a way and show them a how-to aswell.

There are plenty of people on YouTube trying to do this and they are making lots of money, but like you I hate scammers and the majority of them are just that, I see through all their sales gimmicks lol.

What i'm saying is, do what they do but be more genuine if and when you can find what it is that you are good at or can be good at. People are paying alot to learn these days, maybe you can find a particular course subject to teach/mentor and possibly throw in some product sales along the way. Hope to see you around on the forum and see how you get on!

OMG affiliate marketing is/was a nightmare for me. It's really tough to sit back and pay for traffic for someone elses product, and not make any or very few sales. It's not something I was/am good at all.

Damn man, don't give up, keep grinding. You said that you know a lot about trucking, keto dieting, and service dogs. You can try and make some money out of your big knowledge about those things, it's easier to start with something you are experienced in.

Selling other people product for a commission doesn't really sounds like a great business plan

I can feel your pain. And I was in the same shoes, similar before. I mean, a really problem of start learning at a forum or any other "superficial sources" is, the real knowledge always shattered here and there, you did learned a bit everyday now and then, but you dont know how to combine them whole together. Because these things always lack something, like glue, to combine them together, and talk every nitty gritty details of what you should do.

I think you need start read some basic and solid blogs which tell you what you should do, step by step, in every details. No idea if you know Niche Pursuits, read it, you may start feel sth...
