Why do some people have 0 followings?

I’ve noticed lately on Instagram that a lot of people (mostly popular profiles) follow 0 people. Is there a reason for this? Does it make your account better? I just find it weird. I’ve seen celebrities do this also.

I saw an account with only 200k doing this though, that’s not even famous in my opinion lol. That sounds silly

A lot of people do that as to not offend their user base. Some people get flack for following certain accounts and flack for not following others. Maybe they dont want the hassle of responding to people asking them to follow them. I used to hate getting notification from idiots saying follow for follow a thousand times a day. Maybe they are doing it to let people know they dont bother with it.

The reason I’ve always done that is because having even 10k followers and 0 following shows people (IMO) that theres potentially a reason to following you.

AKA it looks like you got those followers legit and not using follow back (which it may look like with 10k followers and 7k following).

IMO it doesnt have o be 0 tho...<100 is good too

Having EXACTLY 0 looks better to those running the accounts is my guess. Like another user said...a little bit of narcissism may come into play

Maybe they just want to make a declaration there.. that they do not want anyone to request them to follow anyone. Just a gesture i guess
