There is a ton of fairy tales about local SEO.
In reality 2 most important factors mentioned in Google patents:

- Local links
- Local traffic (including CTR)

Just for second reason, Google want's all people using mobile, because in most of them is GPS, what make all process very simple and also very accurate.

Of course gurus such Rand from Moz not tell you about.
it's because their DA have nothing to do here.

agree with 2nd point but how can someone distinguish local link?

More DP material.
Thanks for that.

Most important patent for ranking local results: US7231405 called "Method and apparatus of indexing web pages of a web site for geographical searchine based on user location"

The disinformation in the original post is well worth ignoring, Folks.

You're wrong mate.
Did you already read this patent ?
I don't think so.

Short cite: "The georanker 304 provides a unique ranking technique using local links to pages between locally linked web sites. In general, a popular web site often has other web sites linked to it."

It's just small example for this long patent.
So, please do not comment if you don't know what you talking about...

I don't need to read a patent to know what works for local SEO.

I need to test different things to see what works and do that on a regular basis.

You are diseminating information that is lacking substance and value and have no real life backing to prove your points as you are just regurgitating information from random sources.

SEO patent; Ok then.

If a man lives long enough...

Let's we continue:

"However, since the Internet is without geographical boundaries, conventional link analysis includes all web documents regardless of their geographical locations. Using a ranking technique such as that used in Google, typically a small business web site ranks low since the business does not have the marketing power and visibility of a big company. "

"The georanker 304 ranks web documents limited to a specific geographical area specified by the folder 305. Georanker will generate a georank or score (GR), in which a higher score indicates a better ranking of the web document in a region since many other sites in that region link to that site or page."

copy paste bull; patent does not mean google applies said patent.

@BassTrackerBoats - I have already tested it and using from few years. And it working exactly in way - which is claimed in this patent.

And here I thought my citations, reviews and press releases were ranking all the local sites.

Will my websites and former client websites stop ranking because of this patent?

Should we all stop building citations and reviews?

What are local links? Specific tld? What about global businesses or businesses who ship products elsewhere but have a physical address in a different region? What are local links there?

You are full of crap, Guru.

The most important aspect of local SEO is the on site SEO. Hands down that is #1.

Citations, local reviews, social media and a variety of other aspects have much more of an influence in how Google ranks a site in it's search engines.

georanker 304 - sounds like something from 2001 A Space Odyssey.

Come down to earth.

Have you tested what is claimed ?
Would like also say something similar about Pagerank ?

Not all people can understand some things, but it's nothing wrong, same as no each person can be an coder.
And here it's very important to have similar mind, to understand how it working.
However I recommend to read this patent in full, before write some stupid comments.

There is some more patents, which Google already use too, but I see that some people here are not ready discover the truth.

So, you can continue what you did before.
Just keep in mind that some of people can outrank you in Google very simple.
It's because they have knowledge and tested it before say anything, instead of people who only repeat the myths.

@safeSEOboost I love when supermod thinking that is Guru, because it's supermod.
Sorry, but it not working in this way.
To be honest, talking to somebody "nob", where you don't know who is from second side, it's just very funny.
Sometimes people doing it to hide own weak.
Especially If they don't have any arguments and/or enough knowledge,
then trying to confirm their competences by said that they're supermod.
But also often in real life, they are very poor people.
I saw this scenario many times.

And I am not talking about you, I am talking in general.
