I am looking into starting a blog promoting traveling deals/packages ..Im aiming at satudents or middle income earners, I'd like to find out from anyone who's done it how it is like, what to look out for and general advise..

There is so much potential in this sector... for starters you can sell more than just one service - sell the entire experience! Get exclusive partnership with companies in other sectors like taxis, car rentals, tour guides, hotels, lodging, etc. Get creative - mix and match to come up with customized packages exclusive to certain demographics.

There's no reason to be worried about drawbacks. Just focus on learning... make it your passion. When you do come across problems, you will naturally know what to do because by then you have already gained so much knowledge about it. Drawbacks are what separates the winners from the losers. See it as your chance to get to the top. Take advantage of this forum... whenever you face problems, discuss it here... ask pointed questions, brainstorm. We have some of the most successful minds here... make use of it. Good luck!

Hi James, good luck for your endeavour. I'm doing travel-related stuff, but in a different way. If I could just leave you with three thoughts, they'd be target, target, target.
You're writing "students or middle income earners". It's not even either or, you should focus much more narrowly at the beginning. It will make everything so much easier and more fulfilling for you.
American high school students on their first trip to Europe? Millennials on an adventure trip? The holiday experience for people who never go on holidays?
You get the drift.

You really need to focus on a subniche if you want to be successful. The general broad "travel" for students etc. won't get you far. Just look online how many tons of sites are out there about travel, travel hacking, travel on a budget etc.. How can you be any different?

I started my Iceland site after wanting a reason to write the lodging/flights/fuel/car rental off as a business expense. Worked great, was able to write off $6k from that, and have a site launched that is steadily getting 100+ visitors a day.

My next foray as it continues to grow is launching a custom itinerary service. $97 for an itinerary built around their needs, which they will input in a form and I can piece together a PDF from there. Each one should take a maximum of a half hour to put together, and they will be full of affiliate links for flights, hotels, and car rentals.

The goal is to be a quadruple income opportunity: advertising income on-site, itinerary purchase, affiliate links in the itinerary, and then future income from email blasts.

Hi Sherb, while we're on that topic... how much would it cost to travel to Ireland on a budget? I've always wanted to visit the country... perhaps stay at the countryside for a few days if its possible.

It's a great niche with lots of potential. I am starting my own but it's very narrow and not sure how I'll be monetising it but it will be travelling Europe for swing dancing camps and sight-seeing. My target audience will be other lindy hoppers/swing dancers (people I love and get to interact with as I also dance for the past 5 years and still counting). This blog will talk about some camps that I visit throughout Europe and the cities I do sight-seeing at.

My monetisation methods going to be selling dancing gear, probably via Amazon affiliates or something ... also advertisements, I really don't see why I couldn't make another $1K/mo by selling ad banner spaces for camps and apparel makers (the ones that have no affiliate programs) for their perfect target audience.

Of course, I am certain, once my blog reaches a certain amount of popularity, camp organisers will contact me to actually attend their classes as I will be promoting their events on my post(s). So free travelling + income from blogging ... hmm ...

Also, consider travel vlogging. I know there are many great vloggers out there but if your niche is super narrow and specific, you could do well.

Not really. This is an idea worth exploring! I tried tango but I dislike their strict body position. What I love about lindy hop is that there is so much room for improvement and you can even put jazz steps as well as do some moves from other dances like blues or salsa or whatever

hahaha, I'm talking about Tango Argentino, it's pure improvisation, there isn't even a basic step. and if you find it stiff, search for Tango Nuevo videos on YouTube.

Believe me, this is a very good idea with huge potential. I'm working on a similar side project with my own twist.
We are launching on 01.01.2019 and everything is structured so that it can be sold in the future.

resonates soo much with what I want to do.. my plan was to jst run a blog with some affiliate banners and 80% white hat SEO (main reason being to build my IM profile) and Use all the money I make to travel ..I had also picked up alot of Students and Middle Income earners dnt do any vacations or excursions, mostly because we don't know how or where to go.

Free trips was all I had in mind initially.. now Im realizing that there's waay more to it..
