Jouney to Break Even with Video Sharing Site

3 years ago my friend and I started a video sharing site. It has made virtually no money. This is our journey to break even.

We bought some hosting on a VPS for around $100/mo. The site features free uploads (1GB max). We have a Revenue Hits account that serves ads on the site. Paid unlimited accounts can be bought using bitcoin, but no one has ever signed up. We get about 2K impressions per day (adviews, without Adblock).

It seems like the market is too saturated. The main users of our site are using for very illegal purposes and the traffic does not monetize well.

We have put in a lot of work to the site and it runs very well. So we want to try to at least recoup our losses and we have a few plans on how to drive traffic to the site which will be documented here.

Good luck, i had 3 video sharing sites, made 300$ with adsense, but i'm afraid we can't use adsense anymore with little to no actual content...

You can stilll use other contextual advertisers like taboola, chitika, spoutable and many others

There's one simple problem, i got 90% mobile users, none of them click those ads... (I guess)

A few ideas
1)change up the ad placement and make sure they show on mobile. You may need a new template for this. if its wordpress there are plugins for that
2)possibly add content other than only videos
3)do you get paid for impressions or only clicks? It sounds like its only clicks. Find one that pays you for impressions.
4)usually the content in the video is one of the main triggers for the type of ads showing. try focusing on higher CPC keyword niches in the videos
5)if none of these ideas help check flippa and do a search for video sites to get ideas on how they are monetized
6)it could be your traffic strategy isnt very good. you may need to find another source of traffic that does work fo ryou
