Ways to accept subscription payments on a website

Hey BH community,

Currently I'm looking for the best ways to accept subscription payments on my websites. I'm using WooCommerce/ Wordpress, but how can I accept subscription payments? I tried this "subscriptions for WooCommerce" plugin, but I can't get it to work. I know you can accept subscription payments with PayPal, but even that is not possible the I try to add a subscription button...

Any ideas?

You create subscription button on your paypal account and put the code into your site

If you're just getting started you can create a subscription button directly from your recurring payments dashboard:

You can upgrade to a tool like woocommerce when you need things like a membership dashboard and order management.

I already tried that. But when I click on "Create subscription button" on the PayPal site, I just get redirected to my account overview... IDK if that's a bug, I will contact the PayPal support about this.

No, you can't currently.
You have to ask PayPal to activate paypal reference transactions, then they will send you details about what documents you must submit to activate paypal reference transactions after that you can start selling subscription with Freedom.

Definitely sounds like a browser issue clear cache and cookies and if that doesn't work, try a different browser.

Tried Chrome, now I get to the site where you can create buttons. But from the dropdown I can only choose normal add to cart buttons, no subscription button.

I do have all of this, except where it says "choose a button type" there is no "subscriptions" option.

But, even if there is subscription button, you still need Paypal Reference Transactions to be activated. Because if not you will face a lot of problems with subscription. When it's time to get automatic payment, they will say "PayPal failed to get the payment" etc.

I don't know why they don't tell this openly. Here you can see woocommerse talking about that too.

There is a huge process for this, and I also don't have it activated.
I emailed PayPal to get it activated BUT i am lazy to do those process (it's a big list) :-/

I just send my clients manual Invoices instead of Automatic payments as I faced many failed payments due to reference transaction. I'm not a big company or rich entrepreneur, so I can't afford to lose a single client due to failed payment lol.

BUT, are you selling something complicated or just simple subscription which requires no upgrade, or change in subscription?

Then they said: There is a CHANCE that I can accept recurring payments when my monthly PayPal revenue is over 25k€!

Yes, if other payment processor works for you, you can use them
