Im just curious, how many ppl here at BHW use only ebay (or amazon) to make money w/o IM, or use it as a large part of there online income?

Ebay's rise in fees has stopped a lot of people including me, Amazon is better in respect that you dont pay to list only when it sells.

I have about 100,000 dollars in sales on ebay last year. I get all my stuff from one of my friends in china. So far it's working pretty good for me. But it does take a lot of my time. I want to start doing something that is more easier and can be setup to run automatically. Well i guess time will tell.

Our second income at the moment is Ebay , with my wife at home doing the hard yards . Some days we only make $100 and some as much as $400 . It does have to be treated as a business though and is hard work .

We did about $50,000 in sales in 2008..about $17,500 profit after all said and done. It does take some time, but I do enjoy the customer list I build.

Was my primary source of income for a few years, pulling in huge amounts. Got 3 negative feedbacks on my account, and egay suspended me forever. 98.9% positive feedback overall, powerseller, paid them at least 40k a year in fees, they don't care.
My suggestion - fuck egay. I created a second account just to sell off the rest of my inventory and then I am done with them forever.
IM is the way to go, much less stress and hassle.

In my honest opinion, it is not worth it man.
Their fees are insane. They mainly only let their customers pay by Paypal which is a hassle in itself.
If you are not a powerseller, your item gets pushed to the veryyy back and gets sold with one bid.
Not worth it. At all.

I have made a living with ebay for the last 3 years.
Granted, in 2006 it was a much better market for me, I was making about $5-6k a month. In 2008 the market I was in took a huge hit, and I went from making 30% to making hardly 10%. This year has been the worst, with profits hardly enough to make a living, and ebays fees on the rise. I believe I pay around 6% on the items I sell with paypal fees and I'm making max 10% on each item with sales slowly trickling in. I'm looking for new products to sell with a higher profit margin now, or I need to find an investor who will throw down so I can list more/sell more with this low profit margin. The products I sell cost around $115/unit, so it's not cheap. If you have a hot profitable product go for it, if not, don't waste your time.

I made some good money on ebay, the economy killed me, and the ebay changes stuck it in me and broke it off.
the feedback (seller not allowed to leave neg feedback) just ruined it. The people are about as bad as DP
unless you can make some good profit per item, its not worth it.

A lot of people still earn a decent living with eBay.
But more and more people are actually turning to creating their own websites and slowly directing their eBay customers to there
They usually offer good deals to these customers as they no longer have to pay stupid eBay fees.
All you need to do is get into a decent niche market (just like in affiliate websites)
