I defaulted on a loan and the police was sent to arrest me on Friday. They detained me for 3 days and released me on bail some 16 hours ago. My friends came through for me, helped me pay half of the money owed. The police seized my properties worth a bit more than the remaining balance until I'm able to pay up. Those 3 days I spent in detention wasn't easy but I'm glad for the lessons it taught me and the experience it came with. I'm happy to be reunited with my phone, my laptop, my hustle and my friends. I missed BHW of course.

What kind of loan did you default on man? Was this in the United States? People default here all them time and all you get is a letter.

Don't forget the increase in interest, in the USA they don't want you to go to jail, they want you to have a maximum interest rate and then ruin your life in other ways. hehe

Welcome back mate - being locked up sure does make you appreciate your freedom doesnt it?

It's loan I got from a guy who stays around my area. We had an agreement with witnesses but I wasn't able to pay up on the date agreed. I asked him to give me some time but he wouldn't listen. This happened in Naija not America.

I would imagine it occurred in a country that is predominantly Muslim.

There are countries like UAE that treat debt as a criminal matter, rather than a civil one. Expats have fled places like Dubai after racking up debts for fear of imprisonment.

He defaulted on the loan and murdered someone on the way home from returning video tapes.

That's what the case seemed like. You're my favorite BHW person btw

Bruh, Nigeria is not predominantly Muslim..... more than half the people are Christian!

Definitely only bad situations teach the human being. Still be alert for the future and follow the government rules properly so that your family don't have to suffer.

what country because im pretty sure having debt isn't illegal
