My friends came through for me, helped me pay half of the money owed. The police seized my properties worth a bit more than the remaining balance until I'm able to pay up. Damn! Debt is a scary thing, and in your country where you can be jailed for it in a short notice, it makes everything all the more scary.

I had the debt hammer on me for so many years, and when I cleared it recently (most of it) I was back to being broke again :(

But, I am happy to get rid of them. Now, even if I earn less, the outgoings has decreased, so I can survive. (I have learnt some valuable life lessons too)

Looking to work my ass off again to earn good chunk of money.

Hold it youth, you are sleeping in the streets... Good you are back also stay out of zones where loans can lead you to jail
 
Saves getting your legs broken by the guy you owed, as you'd still owe him the money plus medical bills to pay.

There are countries like UAE that treat debt as a criminal matter, rather than a civil one. Expats have fled places like Dubai after racking up debts for fear of imprisonment.

And this again a case where there is a mix between Islam and Arabs :(

99% of Arabs laws has nothing go with Islam .. they got it from foreign countries when they were under conquest

Anyway, debts in Islam are treated like a civil matter and you don't go to prison for not being able to pay your debts
