It depends on if you are counting the research time in addition to the actual time spent writing. Also, it depends on the quality you want to produce. I spend a lot of time re-writing perfecting and polishing so takes me ages!

Unless you're an ACTUAL industry expert for whatever niche is the topic, MEANINGFUL words aren't flowing for 16.7 minutes non-stop.

Honestly, the answer should be as open ended as the question. 1,000 words of WHAT? I've written 1,000 word sales letters that I've worked on for 2 weeks straight. I've also banged out raging 1,000 word forum posts in about 8 minutes. (raging seems to triple the typing speed to about 150wpm)

Long answer short? 1,000 words should take you anywhere from an hour or "more."

I use the same technique too. Always make it a rule to "sleep on it" before I send it out to a client. Which means I leave the proofreading for the next day.

Totally agree. It all depends on how much they are paying you. I have written 1000 word articles in under an hour. It has also taken me days or weeks to write the same number of words.
