Hey guys,

I recently got a dedicated server from FastComet and transferred about 20 Clients to it. Each of them have Cpanel emails setup. For some unknown reason when I update the Client email settings to FastComet after transfer, their IP gets blocked for "Too many incorrect IMAP logins"...

I have been using the same settings all my life on all other hosting accounts I owned and never had this problem. For example:

SSL/TLS
Incoming: mail.domain.com
Outgoing: mail.domain.com
Port 995/465
User: email
Pass: account pass

Their support insists that I am using incorrect settings :) But I am pretty sure I am. Only solution I have left is whitelisting their office IPs.. But I cannot keep whitelisting everyone's IP for obvious reasons.

Anyone have any idea on whats going on? Is it really a fault on my end?

Its honestly hard to tell whats causing the issue without deep diving into your server. I would love to help a fellow member out if you want to shoot me a skype message or PM me.

The issue is more likely indeed an IMAP client trying to connect with a wrong password.
But it shouldn't affect all your clients though just the one with the IMAP connections which is being banned by cPhulk.
You can check it out there to confirm it:

/var/log/maillog

You may even pin point the user responsible which would help the company behind it.
For instance, if they use [email protected] they would know that John is the bad apple to be fired ;).

Thanks man, will check it out. Each case is independent (they do not all get banned at once). But i transferred 20 accounts and each one had this issue during the initial mail setup stage. I really doubt that I entered a wrong pass on 20 occasions and the fact that the settings are identical to earlier host confuses me even more...:) So assuming settings are identical it would be a server security settings issue, but then what rule would be broken to trigger this given the settings are correct. I was digging all over the net for this but no luck so far..

Depending on how you set the server up the logins for each of the accounts could have changed or path is different and so on. There are several reason why they could be getting blocked.

If you are still not sure I would ask your upline to see if they can help. If not post something to hire a freelancer to help out.

If your provider can't help on this issue. I'd suggest to hire someone to look your issue.

I do not agree with you, if his server is unmanaged he is responsible to make it work.

Fastcomet offer managed server.

Correct. It is a managed server so I would expect a solution on this issues from their side. However following several attempts with their support and generic replies from them including screenshots of the standard IMAP settings (which I am using already) and a couple of comments saying that it probably is an issue with the email Client (I have 20 Clients experiencing this problem so I would rule out this cause) it led to nowhere :)
