I'M JUST A PLEB.

But here I am, and I think the content should simply serve its purpose for the readers (not just one particular reader) as much as possible for it to rank higher in the long run. The SEO and other things are an afterthought, maybe these things become obsolete at some point (when looking at the trend of SEO throughout the span of Google's exitence?).

Actually, a Quality Content is really Subjective. But, when a content satisfies a reader, for what he is searching for, it becomes Viral as you said.

Keyword density (roughly).

After that you want it for the reader.

Sometimes I break on page rules. It may be for a catchy title to go viral (7 insane ways to become rich). But the rest of the on page is perfect.

My goal in seo is to make googles job easier when working on a great website with high quality content.

When working with junk content, my job is to trick google into ranking my site (black hat seo, fake social media, etc).

This is just my philosophy. And it works for me. I try my best for perfect on page but it doesnt always work that way.

Well, if you want to rank your page on top of search engine then it has to be seo optimized content. Relevancy always matters.

Both.

For seo you just need to cover the essentials.

H tags.
Image text.
Url structure.
Keyword density (roughly).
Etc.

After that you want it for the reader.

There are a lot of on-page seo factors. Keyword density is one of those. Make sure to keep it at 2.5%
