PBN anchor text

From what I have been seeing for the past few years, I really don't think that anchors have much of an effect on SEO. The rule of "strong links exact, weak links brand" is a total crap imo. Benefit from it is minimal and you can easily overoptimize yourself. Risk:reward ratio is catastrophic. Read this for example - https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/how-i-made-500k-organic-visitors-monthly.966269/

I 100% agree with this. As soon as you start to use keywords in your anchor text, you risk an over-optimisation penalty. Anchor text has been abused so much in the past that I think that other than looking at it to detect possible spam, Google pretty much ignores it.

I think I'm safer building predominantly brand variants and URL anchor text, and optimising for keywords in the URL and the content of the target page.

I love how people TALK A LOT but no one shows any proof of anything, homepage with anchor text links work but it takes time to see the results, you might be in a worst position 2 months after send the link as you can see right here:

Some people just think they know everything so they won't listen to anyone, again, A LOT of talking but no proof.

And this is a proof of what exactly? I can get the exact same result with a brand anchor, without risking anything at all. I really do not think that you are getting the point of what I am saying here. So I will try again:

You can go back in history to, I don't know, 2012 and check the "Why I can't rank?" and "Why am I stuck at 2nd page?" and the reason in most of those threads will be anchor overoptimization. There is simply no need to force it. Your results with exact match anchors won't be much, if at all, better than mine with brand anchors and I am not in risk of being wiped out with the next update or by some mistake getting stuck at 2nd page forever.

Risk:reward ratio of exact match anchors is not worth it TO ME and that's that.

Oh and about proof - I gave you a link to the actual case study where no exact match anchors where used at all and site ranked perfectly fine.

So you have a case study link as a proof ? Great! Lol

Here it is what you are missing, boosting the home page doesn't require anchor text if you are not trying to rank the homepage, this is why in the case study he didn't use anchor text because he is ranking inner pages, I have a website with 200+ pages ranking mainly because the home page is powered up by PBN with branded links.

If you are trying to rank a page for a specific term that is at least slightly competitive you do need anchor text, it goes to show you how most people just repeat what they see and read online without actually trying themselves, if your best proof is a case study that you can't undestand them cool! Go ahead.

What's the impact of PBN links from content that has the keyword anchor in the title in addition to the same linked anchor in the body? Basically, you're mentioning the kw twice from a PBN content source.

What anchors do you use for pbn links?

My suggestion is you should go with your brand name first. Then exactly or nearly relevant keywords of your niche main keyword.
And finally, go with generic and naked URL keywords. Sometimes you should use long tail keywords too.
