i have recently scored several guest post opportunities from quality sites. Yesterday i got my first one, the article indexed, and now my site is sent to hell, #300 and beyond (google dance?).

I'm wondering how many quality links would you ideally recommend building in what amount of time? If the links are quality can i build say 5 within 2 weeks or so or should i wait?

site is 6 weeks old, has a few pretty strong web 2's from @Nargil pointing to it, but thats about it.

any advice is appreciated:)

so you would go ahead build more links to see if the site comes back from hell and beyond?
Mate it does not exactly work like that. You cannot stop and go each time something happens. You have to keep on adding links no matter what. As long as these are quality links you will be fine. So web20 or guest posts will not tank your site, just make sure to not overoptimize anchors.

What social signals etc have you also been using, as the site is new?

yeah i have sent social signals to a few of the articles as well as shared them on the site's social accounts. And i have sent out blog comments for a couple of the articles as well to warm them up before i built a link. Today though, all keywords have blasted off into space from the guest post being indexed. least thats my guess.

Could be Google dance, but you'll have nothing to lose if you continue building more links. So, I'd say go for it :)

It's a Google dance ;)

Keep building links, strong links...

Just take care of the anchors text ratio and un natural links.

You will be good and rank in a few months ;)

I think you should check the quality of your backlinks and remove them if they are not in your favor.

post quality content (1800+ words article to rank on first page)

Yeah, this is getting harder to tell - it could take up to 4 weeks for the Google dance to settle and for you to see the benefits of the link. It would be foolish to sit around in that time and not to continue to build links.
