I'm at 28 now, and I smoke for 13 years or so... I smoke 1 pack of cigarets per day, that means 20 cigarets every day.

I know that's a bad habit, and it's no good, but it seems like it's not enough to convince me to quit for some reasons... I feel so stupid...but this is how it is..

I'm thinking of quitting and now i'm preparing a strategy, i have 2 things in mind:

  • Start lowering the number of cigarets from 20 to 10 for 1 month and then go for 5
  • Quit, and that's it.
I don't know how i'm gonna feel or so... and that's why im looking for some advice from you.

How did you quit...and why?

Thanks.

^^It is impossible. It is harder to control quantity than to quit.

What you can try is run every day, so you can feel how bad your lungs are.
In my experience the best way is to be physcially active, as this is incompatible with smoking. Also if you have a partner, make sure she does not smoke.

I quit smoking because i want it. I ever tried to lower the number of cigarretes but it didn't work for me. I used to chew a menthol bubble gum when i got horny to the cigarretes haha.. it worked for me. The key for me is the desire to live healthy.

Think of it like a craving rather than an addiction and you will succeed with quitting.

If I (my body) felt like it needed a cigarette, I would just chew gum or failing that I’d make a cup of tea.

Sure at first I was having chewing gum and tea about 10/15 times a day but eventually I reduced those numbers and I no longer smoke.

Obviously my body still craves it. I work with people who smoke and the smell is heavenly and even just watching them roll a cigarette is difficult sometimes - but I’d never touch a cigarette again.

Too expensive and it just ruins your insides.
Good luck.

I quit smoking with the help of vaping. I'm cigar-free for 6 years now.

its difficult, i need around 2-3 years to completely quit smoking :D

Never started it at first place. Helped a friend leave addiction but it was a collective effort of all friends.

vaping helped me. but i'm trying to cut back on my thc, not my tobacco

Allen Carrs easy way to stop smoking. That book helped me to quit about 10 years ago. The thing that specifically did it for me was the analogy that its just a trick based on a chemical reaction. This was described in the book like a nicotine level inside your body that wants to stay full. As soon as you put the cigarette out, the level starts slowly dropping. As soon as it drops to half way then your body tells you to fill it up by having another cigarette.

That just made me think about the actual mechanics of the addiction and how I didn't really want to be smoking, but it was just my body telling me to top that level up. If I ignored that signal and let the level keep dropping to zero, nothing would happen and in fact my need for a cigarette would gradually diminish.

It was also the fact that it felt like I was being tricked into smoking by this process and then it became like a challenge - would I really be beaten and tricked by this addiction every day? No, I was stronger than that. That's really what made me give up.

Also, I gave up mid-way through a box of cigarettes rather than when I had finished a pack. Then I looked at the half finished pack every day for a week or two and seeing the cigarettes still in there helped me to draw a line under smoking - rather than finishing a pack and always having that temptation to go and buy some more.

Results from giving up - well, I think it took 5 years or maybe even longer for the smoking to get out of my system completely and over that time I gradually felt better and better - more healthier, more able to smell and taste nice foods and lots of other benefits. I feel more confident as well, knowing that I am not trapped in that addiction.

Hope that helps, and hope you can give up because it will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself. And I haven't even mentioned the money which is another big motivator to quit.

I quited after 12 years.....10-15 cigs per day.....i started vaping became a fag and now I only put dicks in my mouth.

1. Go cold turkey
2. If that does not work, get a kid.
Tge latter did the trick for me :)

Allen Carr - Easyway to stop smoking
I gave up just by reading thid book 6 years ago.
After that never WANTED to have a sigarette. :)

I have been smoking shisha (nargela) for over 13 years. Just like u and we are in the same age too..

I have tried everything you can think of to quit.. I lost hope

Then, vaping trend appeared, I thought I would try, and it was the best thing I ever done. I never looked back since then (6 months), I truly believe its one of the most innovative inventions in this century! My lung thanks me

Make some research first as there are many details, you need mtl tank, and tobaccoo liquid with nicotine 18.. its cheap, and you will thank me later

Hmm, i getting this book now: Allen Carr - Easyway to stop smoking

Just thinking about the saves I could make to reinvest them elsewhere would motivate me!
Good luck OP!

Just pray to Allah... :)

Mind control is everything.

Just do some meditation.

Your brain has ability to read your needs..

Tell 50 times daily, i quit smoke.

It will work for sure.

I have quit multiple times for about six months or more but the weather gets cold you love the idea of cig plus hot coffee sitting in the open alone on roof top that kind of messes it up. You convince yourself its just gonna be one cig but that one cig hitting your nerves after six months and than within 10 mins you are out in the store its just one packet and you realize back on it.
