Wondering how long the sandbox effect has lasted from people here who've started sites with brand new domains. I'm wondering if I should even start building links right now when my site is only 6 weeks old.

There is no need to wait to make links. Imagine a real big company starts a website today, can't they get links on day 1? Just start linking slower at the beginning, but there is no need to wait beyond 6 weeks.

It lasts as long as you don't take action.

Publishing content has put my sites out from SandBox in less than a week.

You should do something now as delaying it would make the wait longer. The age of your site is not to be considered when it comes to this matter.

Can you build links? Absolutely. However, focus on quality links, content, and link diversifiction and be sure to keep link building efforts "consistent".

I agree with ContentExpert, too. You need to concentrate on building high quality links. You can't overdo this, so you need to build and use the best ones.
