Current Cryptocurrency Weightings
Bitcoin 30.00%
Ethereum 30.00%
Ripple 14.14%
Bitcoin Cash 10.65%
EOS 6.11%
Litecoin 3.77%
Dash 1.67%
Monero 1.66%
Ethereum Classic 1.00%
Zcash 1.00%

I'm still trying to fully understand what the weighting number means.

But I'm kinda shocked they included eth classic in there. Also interesting that eth is equal to btc on this list. Surprised that cardano and iota arent on it either. And sad face for stellar not making the list too.

I wonder how much the Bloomberg editorial staff has invested in eth and eth classic.

Hm, so are they just going to be releasing a number that represents how the "overall cryptocurrency market" is performing, but the number is weighted based on the percentage of those ten coins?

Seems like a relatively good way to do things, similar to how the Dow Jones is only 30 stocks, but is the public representation of the market as a whole. Weights for that:

1 Boeing 9.58%
2 Goldman Sachs 6.78%
3 UnitedHealth Group 6.50%
4 3M 5.71%
5 Apple 5.29%
6 Home Depot 5.21%
7 McDonalds 4.59%
8 Caterpillar 4.29%
9 IBM 4.01%
10 Visa A 3.65%
11 Travelers 3.64%
12 Chevron 3.59%
13 Johnson & Johnson 3.49%
14 United Technologies 3.45%
15 JPMorgan Chase 3.18%
16 Disney 2.83%
17 American Express 2.82%
18 Microsoft 2.73%
19 Walmart 2.30%
20 ExxonMobil 2.27%
21 Procter & Gamble 2.04%
22 NIKE B 1.89%
23 DowDuPont 1.86%
24 Merck 1.62%
25 Intel 1.53%
26 Verizon Communications 1.31%
27 Cisco Systems 1.29%
28 Coca-Cola 1.17%
29 Pfizer 0.98%
30 General Electric 0.41%

My first thought was 'bloomberg bigwigs probably like (and own) eth'. My second thought was 'nahh they probably have systems in place to prevent conflict of interest'. Then i realized im continuously naive when it comes to institutional ethics and money.

The weightage looks strong for Ethereum (not surprised). Glad to see Ripple in list as I have some investments with ripple.
