Disabling SuperFetch or Windows Search should do the trick. I've had the same thing happen to me on multiple computers and doing that seemed to fix the issue every time.
Run an antivirus scan if you haven't already, I've worked on similar issues on computers at my old job and a few times there was some sort of malware involved.
Good chance your drive is failing. Run a disk check and see if your drive is okay. If it is failing you need to replace it ASAP otherwise you will lose your data
Did you upgrade from Windows 8? There is a lot chances it could be over-read on your disk. If you find a folder named "Windows Old" in the drive, that should have occupied lot space.. I had this problem once so just guessing I am not sure...
