Why I no longer post about psychic experiences here

Actually, it changes your whole argument. You claimed there was no evidence. This is false.

In fact your tired old argument goes back to question #1.

The fact is, whether you like it or not, the evidence is there. It's really not any different from arguing with me about whether or not lightning is real - do the meditations for yourself, experiment, read related studies and find out.

It's really not that hard. Seriously.

As to why people don't bother practicing and investigating - I don't know and don't care anymore.

I very much would like this to be real to be honest. I am atheist since birth, never indoctrinated in any religion. Knowing that there is nothing beyond our world is not very comforting when you lose someone. However I am not willing to sacrifice the truth because is unpleasant. And again there are zero evidences. Zero. Nada. If you can present some that can be scientifically measured you can win Nobel prize, you know?

Really? I think there would be great comfort in knowing the great, eternal void, the end of all suffering, delusions, worthless lives and constant failures...the great equalizer of kings and peasants would be at the end of all life. There would be the freedom to live each moment of life to the fullest, knowing that every second was a precious, serendipitous gift from the universe to you - personally.

I very much doubt I'll be winning any nobel prizes my dear lad, more likely I'll just be another one of the hapless victims of modern scientism, which openly ignores any inquiry into consciousness or "paranormal" phenomena.

Well the life is wonderful, and I do hope that in my lifetime we will get to either physical or virtual immortality - there is so much to do and see that even a thousand years are not enough. Not to mention that I want to explore the universe, even if is with mechanical eyes. And for that a million years are hardly enough.

Indeed, sometimes the new shits must be forced into the throats of established science, but with enough evidences is happening all the time. Paranormal failed to provide any so far.

Well, it's unlikely we'll achieve physical immortality soon - not impossible, just highly unlikely. You should probably be very rich when we do. And it's equally, or more unlikely, that we'll develop spaceships that can take us beyond our solar system in the next 200 years.

That doesn't mean you can't explore the universe personally. Out of body experiences can actually be incredibly adventurous and rewarding - and they feel as real as you do now sitting in front of a computer screen. http://research.obe4u.com/practical-guidebook/ <---<< this ebook was written with the modern skeptic in mind. No religious fluff or shrills, just a practical step by step guide to popping out of your physical shell in a week.

Hehe, I've actually been to the moon before. It was pretty sick :D. The weird thing is - it smelled a LOT like something was burning. I looked it up when I woke up and apparently, I didn't know this at the time, but apollo astronauts all said that it smelled like gunpowder on the moon. Since it has no atmosphere, the moon is constantly bombarded with little pellets that basically burn up the surface all the time. I had no idea about that. Whatever your view, whether it was my brain subconsciously taking all these factors into account or whether people can actually get out of their bodies, I had a very real "physical" experience that accurately reflected what a moon visit would be like.

That's not all, actually I've had plenty of OBEs that matched the physical world and gave me information I wasn't privy to at all. Anyway, if you're an adventurous type, you'll enjoy them ridiculously.

oh, that's the reason! I thought you are busy with flying meditation.

I actually don't really work on siddhis like that anymore. If you have big chi and can project it outside of your body, you can pretty much do anything. With levitation specifically, if you open up your central channel and you have a well developed immortal fetus, it can blast chi out of your perineum and lift you up.

I am pretty sure your organically grown telepathic melons are going to change the world. Who needs ESP when you have melons, baby?

Lots of other files here too: http://obe4u.com/files/
By the way, just nipping something in the bud - he specifically mentions that alien abductions are just spontaneous out of body experiences.

Thoughts on experiences via meditation vs experiences via psychedelic drugs

I don't really know man.

Consciousness is extremely complex and I'll be the first one to admit that not only don't I have any formal training in neuroscience at all, I simply don't have the experience or intelligence to come close to giving even a passable description of it.

The best I can say is that clearly drugs can affect consciousness and create interesting experiences. Meditation can also affect consciousness in a similar fashion - maybe it releases DMT, etc.... Now, I've personally never heard of someone developing psychic abilities after experimenting with drugs for a prolonged period. I have on the other hand, seen people personally develop great power from meditation. Now, it could be that there are undiscovered psychotropics that could do that...I really don't know.

From my personal experiences, spiritual phenomena I encountered through meditation seemed..."cleaner" or at least not going through a filter. They were also longer lasting. Spiritual experiences I had on shrooms, etc... were very profound but...kind of fleeting to be honest.

Why do you refer to this phenomenon as ESP when you could just refer to it as something that science’s model of the world can’t explain yet? Why name something when you cant explain it? Why not focus on trying to explain it scientifically?

I think it's interesting that you don't really like the term, while the name itself -extra sensory perception -was coined to be a "respectable" euphemism for people who didn't want to digest "psychic phenomena", chi, prana, etc...

Honestly, ESP describes the experience fairly well - getting or sending information through a medium outside of the five traditional senses.

Tl;Dr - Posting about internal experiences oddly has a net negative contribution to non-specialized forums.

Alright, this has been quite a long time coming. I feel like in general, posting about esp, raising general awareness about the very real phenomena that arise during meditation and cultivation does more harm than good in our society...currently. Fundamentally, I come from a scientific background. I don't think anything should be believed unless there is concrete, repeatable evidence that supports its existence. I think the only way to distinguish between reality and fantasy is EVIDENCE.

It irks me that the popularization of psychic phenomena has largely been through unscrupulous and/or unfit individuals. Charlatans, quacks, people with almost zero experience, or (and I mean no offense, this is the truth) mentally ill individuals have taken over spirituality. It's basically like western medicine in the 1800s - you went to the hospital to get sick and drank quack concoctions to have death.

The common thread with people like these is that they offer no repeatable evidence. This is a BIG fucking problem. At the very core of psychic phenomena is the deep relationship we (everything in the universe) have with each other. Psychic events are the spontaneous disappearance of the illusion of separation we normally feel - they are ALL fundamentally about affecting or being affected by something through non-physical means. Without being grounded in reality, there is absolutely nothing to distinguish them from fantasy. I heard this a long time ago, I've said it before on this forum and I meant it from the bottom of my heart - anything that can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

I think it does tremendous harm to society encourage fantastical thinking. I recently visited some conspiracy forums and quite frankly I don't want anything that I do to be associated with them. I especially don't want my methods of investigation to seem like they were derived from theirs. Qi gong, neikung, meditation were all developed as sciences to explore the mind. Period.

Lastly, let me get some questions out of the way:

1. If the evidence for psychic phenomena is clearly available (for example the duke university experiments or personal investigation), how comes it's not part of mainstream science?

I don't fucking know. Seriously. No I don't believe in the illuminati or anything like that because I haven't seen a compelling reason to. I just.don't.know. And quite frankly, I stopped caring.

2. What about James Randi?

What about him? He's not a scientist. He has absolutely no research credentials. From what I've seen on his public forums, the tests he was conducting were an absolute joke. There's a pretty good reason he's not cited in any paper in credible scientific repositories like Nature.

3. Do you still experience psychic events?

Every day.

4. Do you think the general public will wake up to psychic experiences?

I think at a deep level, people already believe in esp. From what I've read, the vast majority (70%+) of people have experienced something they couldn't explain and usually dismiss it. The truth is esp is such a hard wired part of the human experience, it's even in our language. Things like "I got a gut feeling" betray how common psychic phenomena are to humans. Why would someone say that? (HINT: there's a major chakra in the stomach region that's responsible for warning us about danger). There are 100s of little things like that. Everything we do as human beings shows that we are deeply connected to our psychic nature. There's nothing to wake up to, because we already know that.

5. Are you special?

Yes, but not because I have psychic abilities (which, by the way, I simply got through practicing meditation and neikung). My personality makes me "special" just as everyone is truly unique in their own way. You are a whole universe.

yo man, here's the one thing I don't get about you: WHY ARE YOU ASHAMED OF BEING BETTER, SPECIAL AND MORE UNIQUE THAN OTHERS?!

I mean if it's the truth, you're manipulating us with all this 'everyone is unique in their own way haha' bullshit.

Be genuine bro, say I'M BETTER THAN YOU @ScribScribScrib AND YOU CAN BE AS ANGRY AS YOU WANT ABOUT IT, BUT IT'S THE FUCKING TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't throw your own ego away like that, he is an important part of the human psyche, fuck those telling you otherwise, you're special and that's what makes you better than this world.

He's not a scientist. He has absolutely no research credentials.

It's not just you who makes this grievous mistake. That said, it is a really grievous mistake. Here's why:

The difference between science and everything else is that in science the only credential is the method. The method. Nothing else.

There is no priest class whose members have exclusive access to the truth. There are no qualifications that bar anyone from touching the truth via the method.

This is what science is. Your argument is either right or wrong. If you're highborn, lowborn, rich, poor, with a degree, without one, of race X, of race Y, does not matter in the slightest.

Read this, read it again and make sure you drill it deep in your head. Because this is the core, the essential, the utmost quality of science that elevates it above all.

Another interesting point to understand is the reason why most people do this mistake. Most people are not deeply familiar with the epistemology of science. Most people think it terms of hierarchies - your boss, your priest, your parents etc. because that's how humanity used to operate for millennia. And they seek truth in those hierarchies - and hierarchies mean a "priest" class with exclusive access to it. So it is understandable. But once you know, it is irresponsible (at best) to revert back to these behaviors.
