Hey all!

We just recently added another little one to our family. I spent many years working in corporate America and allowing my ex to be a stay at home mom. I am now looking to reverse roles and become a stay at home dad. However, I do not want to do so without making money and supplementing my income -- and -- eventually surpassing it. I have saved enough to be income free for a year, but don't want to diminish everything i have saved. So, I'm here, looking for ways to make money. I have a top seller account on ebay that I used to be very active on (selling video games) but I have not done reselling much in the past few years. My goal to start is $100/day and I am open to any and all feedback and ideas. Outside of that I will be searching the forums and giving things a go! If you have advice, or want to share ideas please, please let me know!

Drop shipping might interest you. Do what works for you, if ebay is good then continue on that.

Welcome to the site. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Dude good luck working with kids around, its not an easy task lol.

I've looked into dropshipping and it seems that generic dropshipping from AliExpress or Amazon to eBay etc... isn't a very profitable one. Unless I'm looking in the wrong places, but I've checked numerous items for resale there and was unable to amount a list that made sense. I did all of my reselling from purchasing inventory online through craigslist. As much fun as that was, it was very labor intensive with travel and time consuming. Also that fad has died off and the competition is high, so I'm ready to try something new. IF you have advice, or a place to point me in terms of a popular method for dropshipping that works, I'm all ears!

Thank you, thank you! It seems there is a lot to learn, but I'm very analytical and absolutely enjoy research. The hard part is wading through what works and what doesn't.

Very true! Luckily they are all school aged with the exception of the new born. So, she'll sleep a lot, and I can dedicate my evenings when the wife is home :).

Welcome to BHW!
Your goal it's a nice one :).

Thanks, now I just need to figure out an executable plan to achieve it!

I have an almost 2 year old and working in the evenings is just not possible lol. Every 10 minutes he will come through screaming my name,I love it. Now my routine is pretty weird. Intense work in the morning before he wakes up and intense work after he sleeps. During day time ill spend a little time on the computer just doing minor things that don't require focus and sleep roughly 4,5 hours.

Get into Paid Traffic a bit of tests and youre good to go.

Look into products on Alibaba that you can purchase in bulk and resell as the margins are stupid good if you hit on something. Yeah you'll have to lay out some cash (not a ton though) handle it, inventory it, keep track of the inventory (there are free programs for that) and pack and ship it but if you have a little extra time to find something, a little extra cash and don't mind the grind it can work very well.

Hands down it kills dropshipping when it comes to margins.

Sorry to be a bit of a downer on your plans - she won't sleep a lot, your going to be expected to take care of the school kids, when your loving wife comes home from work is going to need to "de-compress" and handing off the kids to her while you get on the computer is not going to make her happy.

As a stay at home dad my self - get a full time house keeper or at least 3x days a week and a good VA to help do your business stuff. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING for you to do - you must always make more money then her.

Makes sense. You kind of have to adapt and overcome. All kids are different, but one thing for sure is they love attention! I used to be big into gaming and i remember when demon's souls first came out on PS3. I was DETERMINED to beat it. Playing a game with no pause button and a 2 year old does not work out! Lol. What kind of work are you into now if you don't mind me asking?

Would love to hear more about this, or pointed in the right direction.

I have done a lot of research on that as well. In fact, this is where I'd be most comfortable because when I was reselling games, it was all physical, make ads, shop myself, etc... And I believe what made me successful was having the best ads that were the most well presented. Starting capital is not an issue. I'm all for spend money to make money. Where I lack is in the creativity department i.e, the idea or product to sell! Once I have the idea, I have all the drive and passion to get results. Even buying and selling games part time I did $30,000 in sales(not profit) in 6 months. Nothing was automated and I did all the work/labor myself on top of being full time employed and a parent, so I was pretty stoked about i!

Ha, only time will tell. She's my 5th and so far has the most relaxed temperament. Main point being, I will work around her schedule. I want to be a stay at home dad to enjoy raising her and helping develop her, so that is my first priority. Luckily I have a strong and efficient work ethic, so the rest will be do-able in my "off" time.

I wish you the best of luck as being a new dad myself :)

I build websites mostly and then sell digital marketing services to clients once their website is complete. But I have my hands in some other baskets too. Good luck with your venture!

Thank you and you as well

Any opportunity to find a mentor? Someone who will walk you through proven methods and help you get started, maybe for a cut of the profit?

If you have enough money saved to last you for 1 year without income, congrats. That means you also have good amount of money to invest in IM and be successful with it.

Thank you, that is one advantage that I do have on my side. I had always planned on starting a scratch Insurance Agency and thus was preparing for years to do so. Although, possible, I don't know how successful I would be running an agency by myself while tending to a new born. If I can make some money online, one of two things will happen. I'll either decide I don't need to start an agency, this lifestyle is much better, or it will supplement my income while I stay at home and I can start an agency down the road.

Starting an insurance agency from scratch is a slow burn method to a lot of money, much like Internet Marketing appears to be. I'm willing to work hard, take risks, and put forth a boatload of effort and have the patience to remain steadfast as income builds.

The other is that I have a seasoned ebay and paypal account. I also have an instagram account that has maybe 2k followers that I haven't touched in a couple of years (I know that's not a lot), but obviously I could use it to try out some method on this site.
