Can they sue?

So i bought a website from one. com (dont even want these bastards to get a backlink) a year ago. And yesterday they charged me $40 for a yearly auto renewal. I do not want to pay this as i abandoned that project a while ago. My real name and info is not on there however I did use a card under my name initially when I signed up. Could they sue? Thanks! Also sorry if this isnt in the right section wasnt sure where to post.

If you left auto-renew on, then they a have a right to take your funds.

Anyone can sue for pretty much anything these days, but it's very doubtful they would. They'll try to bill your card and if it fails they'll just suspend service. If they billed and you charged back, they'll probably suspend it all the same, and that's where the story will end.

There ought to be a law.

You should sue them for egregious billing on an 8.00 product.

It was with hosting for a year.
