How to make good ads that will get a shit ton of engagements & cheap clicks on Facebook.

1) Have a sexy image.

here's are examples of ads that would work well;

Things to consider, the image needs to be in high resolution, the image should be like a meme (i.e describe what you're offering without needing to use words), it should grab someone's attention while they are scrolling through FB... and lastly it has to be nice/clean enough that people would have no problem sharing it with their friends/family.

I suggest you test at least 2-4 images and kill those not performing well.

2) Have a catchy content that creates curiosity, empathizes scarcity and communicates the value they'll get from taking you up on your offer. You'll need to learn copywriting for this. Here's a good video that will give you the basics;

3) Where ever possible - and you're not promoting a general offer that majority of people would be interested in then it would be good to target those people based on keywords/interest relevant to them; and remember to narrow down on the targeting (i.e "must also like..." ). Otherwise just go broad - no targeting at all. I've found mobiles seem to be super good for cheap conversions / traffic - so just target mobiles and turn off desktops.

4) Other than that... just test different creatives, different headlines/titles & images.... eventually you'll find something that works that will get a lot of shares/likes/comments, cheap clicks and high relevancy scores. Those are the ones you want to keep and kill those not performing. The more you test, the more you'll get a feel for what works and what doesn't work - and will lead to you being able to produce high performing ads without too much of a hassle.

Hey @IamNRE,

Thanks for sharing this guide here! I had to remove that forum link from your thread (no infraction since I doubt you were trying to promote the forum itself).

Thanks for the tips, targeting mobile only seems like a good option in terms of engagement when I think of it.

Thanks OP. I'd like to know how one can target the right audience on FB. Do you select by interest, gender, country, age? Also Is it possible to advertise with an affiliate link on FB? my network allows me to use social media. However, does FB allow affiliate links?

Thanks!

it's not good advice, fb will kick your ass for those red arrows

NP.

There are many people on youtube that have made videos on targeting. Personally, I just research my audience find out what magazines, websites, companies, associations etc. they engage with that nobody else would engage with unless they too were part of that "niche".

I.e only someone that is really into fishing is going to be reading "Angling Times" or be a member of the The Angling Trust (association). So that's the sort of stuff I'd target.

Otherwise (most of the times these days)... I don't even target. I just go broad. Let facebook work out who converts for me, gather conversion data, then create look-a-like audiences from the custom audiences (i.e the conversions/web site visits).

I would not recommend you use a naked affiliate URL. Facebook doesn't like it, it looks ugly. Also, if other affiliates are promoting the same offer / URL and do fishy things, they might get that affiliate URL (domain) banned which will cause you problems even though you haven't done anything wrong.

Its better to create a goo.gl or bit.ly shortned URL, or do a 301 redirect using your own domain (ideally). Its pretty simple to do, just buy a WP domain, install a plugin called "simple 301 redirects" and you can create all the redirects you want and use those URLs.

I don't mess around with most affiliate offers, because you can't have your facebook pixel installed. As mentioned here.

Fb is not so straightforward when getting ban an account. It's not necessary to be mentioned in Ads Policy

Have you been banned because you had an arrow in your ad? Do you have a screenshot of anyone from facebook saying they banned you because you had an arrow in your image ad?

If not, stop spreading mis-information. Correlation doesn't always mean causation!

Good stuff man! I love how this is not only applicable to FB (as a traffic source) but also to many different traffic sources. Thanks!

Great share OP.

Do you have tips on how to get high CTR in native ads for gaming offers?

.... I don't really mess around with other native ad platforms so can't give you insight from experience, but I'd TEST, TEST, TEST until you find out what works and always track things using voluum or something similar so you know what device, landing page, OS, ad location, geo, interest/category is converting for you.

Then kill everything not working and scale up using the data you've gathered on what's working.

Great post, thanks for the info. If you don't mind me asking, what is the purpose of your ad placements? Drive traffic to your facebook page, drive traffic to product or CPA offer, etc.

Thanks!

Is there a way to track affiliate links ? I am currently advertising on FB.
