hi

what's the best practice to do once you notice your rankings begin to drop gradually?
some of my pages gained rankings but then are beginning to fall gradually

to prevent then falling further. .what's the best step to go forward?

Send more links.

Check if some of the old ones have been deindexed and disavow these

how can u tell if your links have deindexed?

Usually people buy some packages or PBNs
don't think it helps a lot though

I get all of the domains pointing to me from Webmaster tools.

Then I run them through Scrapebox to see if they are indexed.

You can manually check in google using:

site:website.com
or info:website.com

Yes, you can check your links (using whatever tool) to find out what is indexed/deindexed. But it's more likely your site's usefulness to visitors got 'voted down' by Google compared to other sites. The listing on page 1-2 of the search engines is a 'beauty contest' line-up of finalists---you have to keep finding a way to stand out to win the pageant. Good linking gets it ranked, but you have to satisfy the visitors once there, to keep it ranked.

Check what engagement elements competitors are using, and try to stay even with them. Add longer content, more videos, images, giveaways, infuencer roundups, etc. Offer a free ebook you mention on the home page or key pages, but make visitors have to click a link to a download page elsewhere on the site (Google will count the inner page clickthroughs as evidence of better dwell time on the site, thus better engagement). Etc, etc.

for the first few weeks I sit on my hands and do jack shit, let it play out, who knows maybe it'll bounce back?

If no bounce back, i'll get a list of all my backlinks/on page stats for my page and MY COMPETITOR. Compare the two. See what they do, that i'm not.

No one can give you the right fix, it is different for each keyword as people use different methods for each keyword!! Gradually dropping means your competitors are dicking on you, and you can't beat them.

It depends on where you were before. If you were on the 1st or 2nd page, build more links. If you're falling from 50 or 100 you may not have enough links, good content or combination of both. And to get a meaningful answer you need to provide more info, like what that gradual drop means, from 1st page to second, from 5th to 10th ... hope that you get the idea.

check your backlinks with Majestic for example, check if your site hasn't got filter by g00gle and add more strong backlinks.

add more links and then wait and see. If nothing happens either drop and move on or add more links and wait more.
