What's after life?

We're already dead....we just think we're living.

Think about that...

You are right. There are also people who remember their previous lives.

I am a Buddhist. All kinds of life forms cycle. They will reincarnate one after another without ending because of their desire.

Actually this forum is not the place to discuss but I DO interest your topic.

In Buddhism, there is no thing called "Eternal Life".

In our point of view, there is no God (Not Deities) who control all things.

People reincarnate as they have their attachments to world. It also include Hell and other Impure being like animal plane. In Hell, they also desire for good things. It is also attachment. Both Humans and Deities also has attachments like that.

Reincarnation is heavily effected by the time you almost die. Your desire and your mind can drive you to good or bad environments.

Yes, it is true even the one who will become Lord Buddha reincarnated as animals for numerous lives. After all, he was also like us. It is his hardworking make to attain Buddha-hood after many worlds.

The only way to escape from this world is to cut off desire.

It is Desire which make us to be reincarnated one after another. If there is no Desire, there will no longer be another life. It means you can escape from this suffering world.

No Desire= No Life

People including myself don't want to attain Nirvana ( which don't have both physical and mental body). We also do not believe thing called "Soul".

Anyway, my answer to you is "Yes". We will reincarnate as long as we can't abandon attachments.

Everyone goes to a different heaven depending on what the person has been, or hasn't been smoking. :)

For example, I was a chain smoker who smoked not more than 5 half cigarettes almost daily for almost 35+ years, until I had a massive heart attack in May 2011... That night I suffered massive pains, and was sweating like a dog having a shower bath, and was unable to breathe, etc etc, I was still checking my pulse, lol, and at a point I really felt it (& I too) just wasn't there!

The next moment I had an out of body experience. I was looking at myself lying on my bed. Then immediately I was transported to some Tibetan type of monk center in a mountainous plateau, a beautiful land with f lowering little plants everywhere, and the snow filled mountain peaks weren't too far...

On the three sides where I was standing, there were three long singlestoried residential building that you might find in a place where those monks live. They had small cubicles with a small opening in front without any doors, and each cubicle had only a few things like a folding carpet made of straws, a lamp, and few utensils... Then suddenly many small monks came to where I was standing. They were about 4 feet tall children like monks, everyone was happy and they seemed to be living in that place.

Then I saw my father who was smiling at me. He told me to turn around facing the fourth direction which had no building, but there was a tall handsome yogi, sitting in the lotus position and he was in deep meditation. My father took me to him. He opened his eyes and lifted me and made me at in his laps. I felt like a child. He was happy to see me there. Told me a lot of things... I was sitting in the laps of the ultimate guru... God you may call him, whatever...

Then suddenly but smilingly he asked me to go back. My father took me to a small hut like building where a person was meditating. There was a beautiful light around him. My father told me that you're so lucky to have been taken up in arms by that yogi. He told me that the person in that hut has been meditating for centuries but still didn't had the permission to be near the yogi.

Then next moment I opened eyes in the real world. At that moment, I had no pain whatsoever. My hands were not hurting. I wasn't sweating, my thinking was stable, I checked my pulse which was also stable. My heart region was feeling alright. I really had a massive attack for almost an hour just about 20 minutes back, but there was no trace of pain or agony now... Absolutely none. I am sure I had a real out-of-body, after-death experience that night...

No, I wasn't smoking any weed or wasn't drunk that night. Never did weed or alcohol in my entire life, in my after life, or in my life after life!

Heard many similar stories from a lot of people but everyone sees different things. :)

Life is a terminal disease. You always die from it.

Lol. May be you create the scene the way you want to see it 'then'!

After death, for a few moments, may be, your dead, or not so dead subconscious picks up pieces from things lying there and builds it, may be just for kicks, lol. May be after the little movie, you go all dark, or all light,... Who knows?!

Well, I suppose, there will be a reincarnation:) Why not? I don't mind to be a cat.

Not only that, but everybody just happens to see things that affirm their beliefs. Naturally, they are all convinced that their version is the one that's real. :D

The answer is: nobody alive knows or will ever know.

I won't die, I would simply go home to my God Jehovah my maker and savior, Christ Jesus.
The sad thing about the world today is that people are believing the creation than the creator, claiming science has the answer to creation.
Well, these folks should know what the bible said about science (knowledge).
Daniel 12:4
But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

i want to be a google employee in afterlife so that I can disappoint IMers efforts everyday with crazy updates...haha

Don't know dude, i just know that I was a Roman Centurion in my last life, had a pretty gucchi gang life though :)

I guess this is completely opposite to actually RTFM.

But, here’s what I don’t get; if you actually seal the book where this passage is written down, how do you get to know this bit of info?

I guess G-d moves in mysterious ways...

I thought people reincarnated because they didn't learn their lessons in this life and had to come back again and again until they learn? Can people come back as animals or maybe just visit in another form temporarily?

First law of thermodynamics – Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only change forms. In any process, the total energy of the universe remains the same.

From the point of physics, we change form. Nothing indicates that the energy will be the cohesive unit we know in life, or that it will be the same kind of energy.

Sun feeds plant, plant is eaten by rabbit, rabbit is eaten by bobcat. Bobcat dies and feeds earth which in turn feeds earth to feed plant. Eventually earth changes form into cosmic dust and feeds new planet. Eventually solar system is eaten by black hole and and changes form to something else. However, to the best of our knowledge, none of these systems is composed of exactly the same energy of the system that it is composed of, or has awareness of that system.

The metaphysical aspects are beyond the realm and boundaries of science.
