showing relevant searches is the key to stay in business for search engines, so if you search for "HOW TO DO SEO" but Search engines show "LEARN SEO" that's not quite relevant, is it.
True they earn from ADS but why Traffic trust them cz of relevancy only. Just for that reason they stopped Location based searches too cz they don't want to give you searches for "NEARBY FLOWER SHOP" from Manhattan if you are searching it from Canada. If you do SEO in the right way and for relevancy only and for long term purpose, you are there, if you do it with bad practice, you will be one of the guys who would say SEO is dead.

It will be around for atleast 5 more years, until google AI is intelligent enough to reveal your effort. SEO = cheating google so don't think that they will leave it there forever.

True but SIri or Alexa are not decision making AI. They only provide you information snippet, links for more information and do something which saves the time of user.
They can only provide you products with better reviews and ratings. The user have make decision by itself. You just have to work around with them imo.
And SEO, Google depends on website for information. it can not do all by it own.
So long live SEO... Without SEO there no google. it just a also which provides best result for a query.

If you talk about decision making A.I. then you must not forget about recent case of A.I. from FB, where their A.I. started devolving its own language to communicate with machines, FB professionals wasn't even sure which language was that and they had to shut it down. A.I. is surely a cool thing, but what if it really gives us the Judgement Day (JUST SAYING), nothing is impossible .
