How Long Will SEO Be Around?

How long do you all think SEO will be around? Do you SEO's see it being around for at least another 10 years?

I'm a newbie, building out an authority site in difficult niche, and would like to hopefully get some reassurance that SEO is around to stay. I know it's moving more towards topic clusters, but will keyword SERPS always be around even through upcoming years, and google updates? I read in another thread that google may / has wiped out search results for some niches? (keyword "time in new york" - google only shows the time all other search results been wiped out)

Building an authority site for me is going to be a 2yr+ build, would really suck to build out a site for that amount of time and it become only a good effort.

Would love to hear your thoughts/opinions on this.

I just had my weekly conversation with the SEO gods today and I quote what they have shared with me:

Seo is a way by which the search engines identify the relevant sites for your searches,even if the term deosnt stay there will be something for identifying the relevant sites.And this is not going to happen overnight,so we will all have the chance to learn it

This is what i was thinking may happen, SEO staying around but adapting with time.
 
google's goal is to make it as easy to get information as possible, so when it's easy, it will feed you information. that means that facts and easy queries Google make take over and do itself. But there is NO WAY for Google to do this for all long tail queries, especially with so many new products, concepts, words, ideas, genres, names etc. appearing on a daily basis. That means that as long as search engines and google is around SEO will be.
 
I do not see it going away any time soon. There will always be a need for it as long as people are searching the net.
 
While there's search engines, then seo is part and parcel of life online.

Think logically, as SEO = Search engine optimization.

According to Moz = (SEO) is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results.
 
SEO is here to stay, people have been saying SEO is dead for ages, and guess what, it's still here! What changes though is the way we approach it and the methods we use to rank, with new factors coming into play such as voice search and advanced AI
 
I believe SEO will be around for the foreseeable future. However you should never depend on it. Diversify your traffic sources or one day you might get a nasty supprise! :-)
 
As long as someone still uses the search engines, then SEO will definitely be there and it will be a tug-o-war between the people and the search engines, in terms of having more content flowing 'freely' or having more contents being picked and displayed by the search engine instead.
George Soros did mentioned that the free content listing days will be over soon for search engines, but with search engines dominating the mobile market, it's tough to say that they are going anywhere but an upward trend for many years to come.
Although the goal posts have been moved around by these search engines, I still think the SEO concep will remain roughly the same, just that you will require tweaking here and there, every now and then.
 
as long as link building is not too expensive, if it gets too expensive to increase rank, i rather do affiliate than seo services
