Noob restrictions! Minimum Posts to Open New Thread

i agree with this... if you put a minimum post for noob's to post a thread, then they'll just put some BS posts just to get to that post count.

Sounds like someone is taking this personal.
My only gripe is newbs coming in here and not respecting what we have at bhw. i hang out mainly in the download section and noobs are wearing me out with their crap posts. It's like they don't even try to learn.
I was a noob once...still am....but at least I try! The ones that don't try are the ones I don't care for.
Get the chip off your shoulder and go help a noob out.

As a British male, we are famous for getting lost while driving because we won't stop and ask for directions. Well I'm the same on the Internet.
There is no way I will EVER ask a simple question without first finding out if it has already been answered on the forum.
There are several reasons for this, not least of which is I want to find my own answers rather than blindly accept an answer that someone might dish out and who might not have the accurate knowledge I seek. in other words, that might mislead me, either deliberatley or simply because they don't know. I never accept anything on face-value.
The restriction of starting new threads by noobs would be frustrating for serious noobs but is easily got round by posting a few posts of absolute garbage, an even less desirable situation.
I would suggest a banner at the top of the forum urging people to use the search facility first.
When you think back to the pre-Internet days when you had to go to the Public Libraries and physically search huge tomes to do research and sometimes having to wait for someone to bring the book back that you so desperately need, asking people to click a button or two on their laptop whilst lying in bed and getting an instant answer is surely not to much to ask.
The answers are here and the big boys here never tire of helping everyone FREE OF CHARGE. The least you can do is meet them halfway and use the search button FIRST'.

I think even if a noob had 15 posts under their belt that they'll still be ignorant enough to continue to post their stupid threads. Besides, as a noob myself I have seen some of these silly newbie threads to be quite helpful IMHO. Whether it was from whatever it was I learned from it to being entertained by the sarcastic replies, I do feel it still adds some value to BHW in one form or another.

You're totally off base. Not taking anything personal. I just get tired of seeing folks trying to change the rules. Why? everyone at point or another is a noob. I ma just trying to stick up for the noobs.
No chip on my shoulder either. I do help folks out all the time. I usually do it through PM and phone calls. When I help folks out a lot of times it's just easier doing it in a phone call than writing stuff back and forth.

I am a noob and I have spent hours and hours searching the forum. I have learnt so much and I am learning more each day. I also agree about the "thanks" and "i will try this" cr*p.
What about a pop quiz where you have to answer say 5 questions to show you have at least done a bit of reading? It stops the moderators getting a full pm box of people reporting nothing posts.
I also agree that some posts are virtually unreadable so a reasonable standard of english should be a minimum.

I've really profited from all of the advice given here on BHW - some of them from veteran members, and some from newbie members. I've even profited from the cr*p posts - the sarcastic, the drunk, the hard-to-read English.
Diversity in input makes this forum all the richer in information.
The sarcastic comments - well, sometimes they can be mean, but hot damn when they're funny.
The broken English comments - hard to read, definitely gives me a headache, however I do my best because some of the best and newest things I've learned came from people whose originating country does not natively speak English (that would be EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY ON THE PLANET except the US, UK, and Australia). If the Chinese had their own blackhat forum, I would definitely be too lazy to learn decent enough Chinese to adequately contribute there... Kudos to those who can take the time to learn another language and try to help a brother (in another country) out.
As for post quotas before being able to contribute - well, I don't think that will foster the right kind of atmosphere. There are some veteran members who have made some questionable posts - and hey, just because they're veterans they probably don't get any lip about it.
Some newbies are lost and definitely act like it. Other newbies do make a strong contribution... Many people who gravitate towards Internet Marketing are not necessarily your sophomoric 17-year-olds. I myself was the CFO of a major import/export corporation netting $32 mil a year before I decided to go into business myself. Right now I'm a "noob" and I am probably going to remain a "noob" for a VERY VERY VERY long time... I spend my days doing my internet marketing stuff - I don't really have the time to post a lot of nonsense. I plan on only making a few posts that I think are worthwhile. I imagine some of the other more serious newbies will also want to be more concerned with learning the business, rather than spending all of their time coming up with cr*p posts to make. If there was a quota, then I would have no choice but to figure out how to make a ton of worthless posts. Since there is currently no quota, I don't have to worry about my "post count".
As I said previously, I believe the best way to go would be to give the moderator "deletion" power.
Or, we can go totally gestapo and follow the Craigslist flagging system - that'll really be a GREAT addition to Black Hat World!

Some people earlier on in this thread must have forgot they were noobs once but this guy guy below is right:
1. I agree with the dumb questions that have been asked a thousand times. I honestly think anyone that starts a new thread relating anything to "how do I make x amount of many in x days" should just have the hammer dropped on them, I honestly do not believe they have the drive to do anything with this forum or internet marketing, and furthermore I don't know how they found this forum(JK).
