Now What To Do After Ranking #1 in Google?

Hi People, It's my first SEO IM Project, specifically "Amazon Affiliate".

I launched the site in November/2017 and Now I've 2 keywords ranking #0 "Snippet" and #1.
the site made $400 in January, and $160 until now in February 9/2.

All SEO done for this 2 Articles is basic on page SEO and expired Web 2.0s, they are easy keywords with high-buyer intent.

Now, I want to save this positions from other competitors, what should I do?

I read somewhere that building more links for an already ranking #1 article in Google is not a right movement.

What should I do exactly?

At least for now I wouldn't mess with this site anymore. But you can make a few more sites or other properties and take over page 1. If in the feature you have competitors you can link out from the new sites to your current #1 and back on top.

I would try to dominate the SERPS, because if 60% of the clicks go to position 1, then imagine how much more of the search volume you can pick up if you can rank for some of the other positions. Sounds like you have the first site dialed in pretty well, so congrats on that!

I don't see a problem with building more links, just do not build too much and focus on quality rather than quantity.

Some of the old links will die, so you need new ones to maintain rankings.

Optimize your title and description tag to maximize your click through rate. Next, optimize your website to keep people on your site longer and avoid them bouncing back to Google. Those two things combined and no one should outrank you.

1. Post more quality articles.
2. Build quality back links.

Keep in mind, quality is more important than quantity.

This. One easy approach is to make some posts on sites like Yahoo Answers, Reddit, etc to rank in positions 2-10, which then mention your site and link back to it. Helps with conversion rate when leads click away from your site, click something else, then see you again and come back.

Also, if you have a whole site that is doing well, make a new brand and make articles for the same keywords and push them onto the front page + make parasites for that brand, too.

And finally, building additional links can still be useful because they:

• Help that article get additional traffic from variations on your keyword, longtails, etc. / push your position upwards for variations on your main keyword
• Secure your position in the top SERP position and
• Increase your site's overall authority. You can also make internal links from your article to other articles on your site to spread that authority around.

You might also see if you can get a featured snippet or similar, such as by adjusting/adding tables/headings/subheadings in the article.

Another thing you can try is setting up Rich Snippets and working on making those show up for your result.

thats a very good advice ... you could even do that when on page 1 before reaching pos 1

I agree with the others that are saying try to dominate the 1st page. You found a formula that works for those keywords/niche so apply it to building out other properties. You could also put some good content on some parasite/web2.0 type platforms and rank those. Also you could try ranking some Youtube videos. The niche I am in I did exactly that, for some of my keywords I am taking up 3 positions on page one. Once I was able to do that, my monthly income has definitely gone up. Also if you could find a good expired or auction domain that is even broadly related, you could build out a site on it and probably shortcut your ranking time a bit. I would invest what you are making from the first site into building out others until you are dominating the SERPS
