Correct, until they are topped up with a minimum of £10 gbp you don't have a phone number. The SIM card is nothing more than a useless piece of plastic (or a window scraper) unless you activate them.

GiffGaff you need to use a debit/credit card to make a deposit to activate the SIM.

O2/Three/Vodafone/EE/Tesco Mobile/Lycamobile give you a free SIM and you don't need to pay or register to activate it.

Actually they are so cheap (2$) and you can get them without any ID. I've got 3 burner phones already and few numbers. I'm just curious about those which @Sephrata mentioned. And the GiffGaff, they are free lol.

I've used giffgaff as my mobile network provider for the past 4 years. Yes you DO have to activate any sims via topping them up. So sure, order dozens of them for free, but they'll be useless unless you activate them which again, to do you have to top up online,buy a goodybag, airtime credit etc.

Use them for plates for your pet mouse.

Start a company where people pay to use your facility to have sim card wars by tossing them at one another frisbee style.

Use them for the leg on a table that is shorter than the others by putting them under the table teg to even them out.

There are tons of uses for useless sim cards!
