Hey, I have started this thread as something to motivate me past all the stuff I will go through for the next 3 years. If this is not the place to post it just take it down and tell me where to do so.

I like to write. Even though I've written many stuff over the years for people I know, I never wanted to make money out of it. Until now that is. I'm at a position in my life where I need money to achieve the goals I set for myself. I never expected to actually be in this position but I know life is no fairytale.

Started a Fiverr account a few months back as a starting point, expecting to make $50 in a month so I can get a decent website going.

I'm 18 years old and not born in an English speaking country and this has been my biggest let down. I think my stuff is good enough to get paid at least $1/100 words and over the past 3 months on Fiverr I got ONE order (trust me, I tried to get more). But oh well, that's life I guess. Felt like Fiverr was slave labor anyway.

Well that's enough introductory sentences I guess. Here's what I hope to achieve in the next 3 years (not in any particular order).
  1. Make a free blog (already got a niche).
  2. Write good content for the blog.
  3. SEO
  4. Monetize the blog.
  5. Make another blog (review blog most likely) from the money I made from the first one.
  6. Write good content for both blogs.
  7. Get affiliated to somewhere.
  8. SEO grind (maybe even hire someone to help me with it).
  9. Start/Join a content writing service (hopefully making more than $1/100 words).
  10. Try to dip into PBNs and Social Media advertising for my second blog (heard someone say PBNs don't work anymore?).
  11. Try to develop a unique strategy of money making (which requires spare money).
  12. Make a total of $200,000 (why? that's exactly how much I need and I don't want to stay a content writer forever).
  13. Stop. (this is hopefully the last step)
I will update this thread whenever I achieve or begin one of these goals. I appreciate all the help I can get (maybe there's a better way for good writers to make money and you're willing to share it with me?).

Well that's a good enough to keep me locked in I think. Please don't refrain from giving me any suggestions like threads I may want to read, sites I may want to visit etc. that probably will escape my radar.
PEACE

Well, it is a really interesting journey, I hope you continue doing it, it will be really cool to see the starts here when you achieve your goal. About Fiverr, yes, it is now a hard place, being new there can be a big pain, but if you keep there and get every month a sale I am sure you will grow.

Thank you! I'm sort of done with Fiverr and I think it will be a better use of my time to do something productive instead of trying to compete with others there.

Did you ever made money online or was the first Fiverr order you first money ever made online?

Hello and good luck
BTW fiverr is all about reviews - when u get some orders will find you

I've made money from people I know through the Internet before, but the Fiverr order was my first dealing with a stranger.

Well the first guy did give me 5 stars and a nice review but I didn't get any new orders even 3 months later. I checked my competition out and there were at least 50 other people just like me. Writing gigs in Fiverr are very saturated and you have to be extremely lucky to get a review having more than 3 sentences in the first place. (I'm too full of myself to beg for a long review haha)

Good luck.
Try to use buyer request everyday and create gig on different articles writing like about us, bio and salescopy (if you are good in this you can make $1000 in no time)

Try to give the best quality possible for what you do. Don't focus too much on the money. If the customer is satisfied you will reach your target sooner.

Best of luck man! Consistency is the key!

UPDATE #1

So I have started a blog (blogger) and my first post is up now. I may put the link up on my profile in a few days but I don't feel like its ready yet. I've read some other journeys and some of them are better than reading a novel! Which gave me the idea to have a money spent and money made bar at the bottom of every update post from now on.

I will drop a new post every week and try to get some backlinks through forums related to my niche. What else do you guys suggest I do to get some hits? I've seen people spam links on popular Youtube videos and wonder if this is a good idea. Adsense is still a long way away:( but I can't expect to get rich in a day.

Writing content is easy, but now I have to work my ass off promoting it.

PS: I still have the Fiverr gigs up but I don't think I'll spend any more time trying to promote those. If I get lucky I'll add whatever I make to the money made bar.

Sorry but you already lost when you said you will stop.
