What do you pay for rent?

Hey guys, I'm looking to move before my daughter goes to kindergarten. Right now I'm paying $1650 a month for a 2 Br town home. I live in New England and would like to get out. What states would be good for me being self-employed (taxes) and any states or towns you recommend. I'm looking for a good school system and that is why I want to get out.

Yeah, it's nice. Depends on location as well. Some nice areas where I would like to move in New England that has good schools are $2400-$3500 a month. I don't know if I want to pay that.

You would do much better moving to Florida and sending your children to a private school and paying the tuition.

Yeah BTB I thought of that. There is no state taxes so it would benefit my business. What is the going rate for a town home in Florida

Not really up on the rent pricing as we own + I'm in a different demographic than you. My youngest is 25.

Yeah. I'm in a really good area near the beach paying $1,200/month for 2BR/1Bath. Good deal, but planning on moving up north. East coast is still fairly cheap.

In Minnesota its $400-500 for 1 bedroom in a nice house. Minnesota is a similar culture to new england too.

Wow! I need 2Br. What part of Minnesota is that cheap? Most important is my daughters school and would love to live in a tax free state for my business.

Before that I was renting a 4br/2ba house in a top ranked school system, plus a top rated walking community, costing: $750 a month.
I love Ohio rent, no matter the city, Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati.

It's a small complex with a HOA. Get a gym, pool, with a club house.

Check out western North Carolina. Specifically around the Asheville area. Absolutely breathtaking views, an incredible culture nestled in the mountain valleys, all the necessities of big-city life, but in 15 minutes you could be on the Blue Ridge Parkway or deep in the woods on a hike. Extremely high quality schools and colleges surrounding the area (I know, I went to one). And the city has been experiencing a consistent boom for the past 15 years. You can experience the New England lifestyle in a less expensive environment with far kinder people and an endless supply of outdoor activities.

To answer your question, though. I'm NE Florida, near @BassTrackerBoats but in a more urban area, and pay $1,620 a month just mortgage for a 3/2, 1700 square foot house built in 2017 in an extremely nice neighborhood about a 10 minute slow drive from a massive downtown area.

Wow! Y'all pay so much money for rent. The average monthly rent I see on this thread is what I pay for a year here in Africa, although it's an empty house and I had to buy properties.

I don't mind living here, well except for the cold. But great food everywhere, plenty of history(I love photography, so old buildings rock), and let's not forget, you can go anywhere in the world and call out O-H, and you'll get a response.
