Interesting idea. At least 90% of that article is pointless fluff/filler. Here's the only paragraph worth reading:

I love how these bloggers keep hyping something that is not really new.
The return rate for this method is zero.
I work for a company that has more than 5,000 articles where they link to almost every brand in existence (for their niche).
Do you know how many returned back a link?
Not 100, not 10, but zero.
I personally never believed that Do-follow and No-follow really make any difference in terms of using them for ranking sites. I’ve ranked sites in medium competition niche with 85% no-follow links as well.
