Is BHW about making money anymore, or is it just for crypto people?

I'm not sure if anyone has said it already as I couldn't be assed to read all this whining, but I'm pretty sure there is a setting (or there was) that you can click to ignore a subsection of the forum.. problem solved!

I don't see the harm in it.. this is a new area of making money and a lot of it at that, isn't that what BHW is about? I've only began to dabble in it and can already see the potential to make some serious coin.. I'd be pissed if the section was removed now, it's a busy section that's flourishing why would the forum owners remove that? Not to mention then the man power needed to begin cleaning up crypto threads in other sections if the crypto forum was removed.

Let it be.. let the crypto kids have their fun, moderate it heavily for sure as there will be shady characters. But it's a simple solution.. If it's really annoying you that much, go check your settings and ignore that subforum.

Ah the old free money... if only it were possible without printing your own.

I'm not trying to rile people I am genuinely concerned for people who are going into this lock stock and barrel without even understanding the fundamentals of how any market works, because they're going to lose everything, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.

And consider this - in 1929 people had to contact a broker to buy or sell shares, they still used ticker tape fgs.

In the early 2000's most people could only trade by phoning their brokers.

And yet in both those cases the market crashed hard very, very fast - i.e. it dropped off a cliff.

What do you think is going to happen this time, when people can whip out their smart phone, hit a button and sell it all insantly?

I'll tell you - absolute PANIC.

The main exchanges can't cope with the volume now, some aren't even accepting new accounts, and others have crashed under the strain of the traffic they have already.

So when panic sets in and people want to sell as they watch the price drop, and drop, and drop - and then they can't login because their exchange is down - it'll make them panic more, and by the time they can get access they'll sell it all and you'll see probably an 80% to 90% drop in crypto prices in one sitting.

You haven't made a penny until you sell and take it out in cold hard cash, and if you try to sell when it pops then it'll be too late and you'll lose it all.

I know the coiners don't agree or believe this, but mark my words that day is fast approaching.

I absolutely agree. Some people are investing more than they are ok with losing. However one shouldn't shit talk all of Crypto for it. I personally day trade and use the money to buy other stuff outside Crypto (about to buy a high end laptop with my crypto profits). I personally don't trust this crazy market lol.

Everyonepinion, some people it's the complete future and will over take Banks, so they put everything and who knows, everything is possible.

If a person researched a ton in terms of crypto and genuinely believes in a project, who's anyone to tell him or her not to invest or talk down on what they truly believe.

And this actually is an amazing opportunity to make a shit load of money really quickly and easily , but it's also an amazing opportunity to lose a shit load of money really quickly and easily. Gotta be smart about it.

Anyways, lots of money to be made, invest smart and good luck $$$$

How ignorant!!! That is called trading you fool!!

Lol. My apologies. I was comparing the people who want that get rich quick scheme without any work on their end, you know the ones that ask to be spoon fed a method step by step, to some crypto traders.

You see so many crypto threads about someone posting their amazing gains in crypto. It’s really not any different than somebody posting a journey thread or thread about how they made $xx,xxx drop shipping.

What I would like to see are more threads about a business or service side of crypto rather than what coins people promote. There’s a thread here about someone using machine learning to analyzing web data about a crypto to predict increases in trading volume. I find those threads more interesting than those about a self proclaimed crypto expert promoting their coins.

I was kidding lol. These guys on here ain't traders.

They are about as much of a trader as I am, and I have 35 positive feedback on eBay.

I don't get why people hate Crypto.

There's a separate section on BHW.
The threads are in the appropriate section.
People are making money with it. (Isn't that why we're here, anyway?)

I don't see the problem here. Since when making money has to be strictly about affiliate marketing or SEO?

As much as I would like to nuke the entire crypto section, a few very good threads have come out of it. Additionally, at the end of the day BHW does not cater to the community, it caters to those who spend money on ad space, services, and stickies. Lately, the purpose of BHW has pretty clearly swayed more towards the profit model and less towards the growth of new content bringing in relevant talent. It caters to growing the user base no matter what tactics need to be done. The cryptocurrency section is probably the largest bringer of new traffic to BHW these past several months.

Every year there is a new "trend". We were all bitching about Instagram early last year. Blackhat SEO is becoming more difficult, and most members on this site are looking for quick, easy money, instead of lasting effort. This has never been Build-a-Business World. Shit, half the members here can make $5,000 in a year and live like a king where they reside.

If anyone thinks @Diamond Damien is going to get rid of the largest growth section on the site to please older, established members, they are fucking delusional. Almost all crypto suggestions have been met with silence or ten second replies by administration. Shit, they're still trying to work through the BST backlog. They run a business, and are doing a pretty good job of it in a niche where most of the IM boards are dead or dying. Again, as much as I'd like that whole cancerous section to disappear, it's going to come down to adapt, ignore, or leave. I know plenty of members who have done each of the three.

Quit bitching and figure out a way to add to the discussion, no matter what your opinion on the matter is, or just ignore it and move on.

The only solution for all crypto haters is what @Billy Batts suggested -> If the BHW team can filter out crypto threads from the BHW homepage it'd be great. This way you won't see all this crypto BS anymore and everyone will be happy.

This is where I disagree. Billy is suggesting to filter out the crypto threads from the homepage because a small percentage of the users don't like seeing them.
It's like me asking to filter out threads about a specific topic from the homepage because I'm either not involved in that topic or I hate it for whatever reason.
Doesn't work that way :)

I don't think any kind of action from the mods/admins is needed regarding this issue. Wanna see only BH SEO threads? Head over to that subforum. Takes only a couple of clicks.

Billy is suggesting an option to customize individually what shows up on the homepage not to filter it out for everybody, there's a difference ;)

My bad. I read @Neon's post and thought you suggested what he said you suggested.

Yours is not a bad idea but I don't think the issue of crypto threads showing up on the homepage is important enough for the admins to pay that much attention to it.

I already know they don't as I suggested it a month ago.

I didn't mind the crypto in the beginning but it's the same threads over and over again with different coins every week what annoys me.

Ah well, can't win em all.

Those of us that brought it up last year got abused by the cryptokiddies lol!

Yeah, crypto hipsters. But they can have their moment, signs of governments getting involved and putting restrictions on it are growing.

Careful, you could be next to get it, the cryptokiddies are sharpening their rattles lol. I got fed up with it, so now I don't use the forum as much

It's not that we don't pay attention to it, it's just that the suggestion is a fairly involved one. The idea to be able to customize the homepage is a good one but, like any suggestion, it gets looked at to see whether it's feasible, how much time and resources it would take to implement and whether it's likely to cause issues with other functionality. With a forum this size, any custom development can throw up unexpected results so bugs and bugfixing is a big consideration.

We're watching the thread and the feedback - if it's something that would be useful to a large amount of members, we'll look into the pros and cons of implementing it.

I suggested it last year and was told it’s not happening as there is no need for it.

I’ve seen it mentioned many, many times since then, with each person not knowing it has already been suggested.

Maybe you should have a sticky/ thread in suggestions?

Seeing people say it xxx times is probably more annoying than seeing the threads they want to be able to hide.

Oehhh I'm so scared :D I've endured so much stuff in life that I wouldn't be impressed by what any of them could possibly say.

I liked it better when it was on the underground but MSM had to get involved and now you got all these wannebees.

I have no problems with the guys who have been involved with it since years just with the hipsters.

All of this can be solved with "simple" filtering of posts on the home page. We had similar discussion when it was all about social media boom. Exactly the same thing.

Someone isn't into certain areas or niches of money making, so be it, ignore it and that's all. We all love home page for new posts, I don't use anything else and pruning by sections of interest would be permanent solution now and for any further hypes (that WILL occur).

We've got quite a lot of sticky threads in the suggestions section - it's one of the things on my list to sort out. But yes, fair comment about it having been brought up before. It's one of the things we need to improve about this section - there should be a better process for collating requests and getting a good idea of the demand for certain functionality.

I know it’s another suggestion & probably a hard one to integrate, at that, but maybe an autocomplete thread title?

So if it’s been posted before you have to explicitly select that you want to post it.
