Is BHW about making money anymore, or is it just for crypto people?

I think there are a good percentage of contributing members who would love to see transparency into what the list of things are that BHW is actively working to achieve. It doesn't need to be a detailed breakdown, but even a top 10 current to-do items by priority site-wide would be great.

While we aren't shareholders in BHW, we are stakeholders, and many of us feel like we are being left completely in the dark.

You've lost me there - I'm not sure what you mean by being left completely in the dark. What sort of information do you feel is being withheld from you?

I think removing the Cryptocurrency section wouldn't be the right way to go about things. Maybe OP and others aren't as interested in Crypto and don't want to go anywhere near it, that's perfectly fine and they are entitled to do so. It would be best if they simply ignore the threads, or maybe there could be an option to hide threads from a certain sub forum.

However, I know plenty of people here (including myself) who've found the Crypto threads here very helpful and informative. Of course there are useless threads which add no value to the forum, but I can think of countless useful Crypto threads that have made me and others a lot of money, after all that's our goal right?. I didn't even know some cryptos like IOTA or TRON even existed until I read some threads here, and I've made more money that I could only have dreamt of a few months ago. I have the BHW community to thank for that, and there are members here in the crypto community whos posts I closely follow as they usually hold a lot of value and information, which is why I'm here.

Stakeholder groups are, from my experience, usually worthwhile if you have the right people involved.

If you are able to raise ideas or issues through a proactive forum member, you can at least get some feedback and know that your voice is heard.

I don't think @Sherb is suggesting that information is being withheld, more that maybe a sticky thread in this section with a breakdown of ideas that have been suggested that the powers that be are actually considering would at least keep us all up to date.

If members could see that an idea is possibly being worked on then it may prevent further suggestions for the exact same thing. You never know, there may even be forum members who can help or advise with the implementation of a specific idea.

    Here are a few:
    • Current status of the Marketplace backlog. If I'm looking for a specific SEO service and I end up settling on something in the Marketplace, but there are eight other stronger services in the pipeline offering the same thing that come out in the weeks afterwards, that sucks.
    • Current status of the Marketplace upgrades. We have heard that upgrades are happening for quite a while, but have seen very little in terms of customer-facing upgrades besides stricter enforcement of the $30 per year rule and the mass automated closing of threads that have expired since then. What exactly does "marketplace upgrades" mean? Maybe I'm missing it, as there are a lot of threads I don't see, but I do see a lot of them, and I'm still confused as to what is in the pipeline.
    • Better insight into sales threads. Things are getting back to normal for that, but a great example of that is the Cesarios debacle. A handful of new Marketplace threads went up all at once, and all had the same "review" of "Thread Approved. Works as described. Decent price too.". There were a lot of Marketplace reviews that followed this trend. It is becoming similar to how it was a few years back when approvals were nothing more than "thread approved". We all know that there is a rigorous process to approve a sales thread, but in the end, we really do want to know what the product did for the people who ultimately approve it.
    • On the Cesarios note, there was zero follow up that the public was able to see for the glaring issue @Asif WILSON Khan brought up here: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/rules-for-bot-makers.995381/. That seller is clearly able to continue selling their skinned bots, is clearly reselling, and is clearly adding zero to the community. It makes things look like anybody can spend $500 and do as they please on the forum. Again, that is surely not the case, but that is how it looks like from a perspective outside of management of the board.
    • Moving resolved shitlists to an archive instead of outright deleting some of them. The @weblues issue was massive, and was very much pertinent to many members here. Instead of being able to look back and see what caused the issue, the thread was completely deleted. Why?
There are more. But my message was less about "left in the dark" and far more about "what is being worked on at BHW, because we would like some better insight". And again, I'm not in any way insinuating that you guys are falling down on the job, because you aren't. You are all doing a wonderful job.

Simply put: What is actively being done by administration to better BHW?

Ah, fair enough - "being left completely in the dark" sounded as if there was a specific issue - just wanted to make sure I wasn't glossing over anything.

But yes, I think there's definitely ways in which we could improve the suggestions process and more info on what's due to be implemented. That way we can avoid some duplication on suggestions and get a better idea of what the demand is for improvements.

Oh, ok - I've just seen Sherb's reply come in - looks like there are a few specific issues being brought up there. I'll read through it and reply shortly.

    BHW - of course.

Going back to the OP - before we turn this into a "What's BHW's plans for the next x years" - thread - answer to that is you tell me what G's plan's are and I'll tell you mine. In general, we've been very clear that we're content, member engagement and building a better marketplace focussed.

Re how to follow threads on BHW
We've covered this in the past the benefit of having an account on BHW is that you can chose to only see what you want to by managing your watched threads https://www.blackhatworld.com/watched/threads or watched forums https://www.blackhatworld.com/watched/forums the home page is a reflection of trending topics on BHW at the moment. If you want to see everything that's going through BHW at the moment - then watch the homepage feeds. Of the 50 live threads on the homepage at the moment less than 10% are about Crypto. Which is reflective of the industry at the moment.

You have an account - use the benefits of BHW - get notified when threads and forums you're interested in are updated - hang out in the sections you're interested in and you can easily ignore those you're not.

Thread closed - answer provided - we won't be banning "all the crypto's" but we will be ensuring they are held to the same level of honesty as all our other fantastic members on BHW.

For clarity, I neither hold or wish to run/support any Cryptocurrency at this point.

@Sherb - your post came in whilst I was posting I'm sure @Apricot will answer those questions with you on their own thread. Rather than hijacking others.

Will do :) I’m not continuously online at the moment, so I’ll post it as a new thread when I’m more able to actively take part in the discussion.
