Hey all!
I decided to start this thread for 2 reasons.
1. To answer questions that anybody might have about the tactics/strategies that I'm using (although I won't giveaway any specific details, of course).
2. It seems like fun.

Anyway, for the past 3 months I've been working on a drop shipping store using Shopify+Oberlo.
Last week I tested a new FB ad strategy, and have just started to see a good ROI for the first time. I'm currently getting about 1.8x return on ad spending, not including remarketing, email marketing, etc.
The size of my target audience is only 5-10 million, so I can spend maybe 100k max in Facebook ads before exhausting them. Seeing as I'm doing drop shipping (providing a relatively poor customer experience), and have a limited audience size, I've decided to set the goal of this journey to a saved $30k in my bank, rather than a daily amount.
Also, at this point in my life I'm not interested in making a long term business, and mainly just want to save up a lump sum of cash so that I have money to travel with, and not have to work for a few years.

So far I've made just over 300 sales, but have only started to see profit over the last week.

I'll keep this thread updated over the coming weeks with my earnings, ad spending, moral qualms, and more fun stuff!

Would be intreseting if you could explain more about your FB ad strategy :)

Gl on your journey :)

Can you add me on Skype: michael.burch25
I am dropshipping aswell and we could exchange some tips, would be cool ;)

You doing a Justin Bieber dropship through Shopify?

Why? One DMCA complaint and they ban your site and freeze assets, you should have gone the WOO way with a hoster that denies DMCA.

Nope, Bieber is just my BHW username :-)

4 Day Update

Things have been going well since I posted this. I’ve spent the past week working on optimizing my site’s conversion ratio. Currently over 16% of visitors to my store become customers.
Since the 19th, I’ve spent $335 on Facebook ads, and done $1,635 in sales, making for about $500 in net profit.

With current Facebook ad prices I’m seeing about 2.5x ROI, and am hoping for their prices to drop a lot after Christmas is over.
I negotiated a $0.5 discount on certain items with my supplier, so that helps too.

I’ve also signed up for Admitad, which integrates with Oberlo and gives me 8% cash back on every purchase at Aliexpress. If you’re doing drop shipping, this is basically free money so I highly recommend it.

I’m planning on ramping up the Facebook ads after Christmas, so I’ll update again after that.

Good luck on your journey! Any tips on finding the right product?

Total ad spend since the 26th has been $314, and gross profit has been $493.
I have collected a decent amount of emails from this traffic as well, so after all is said and done I project the ROI from this campaign to be about 2x.
The main issue I'm facing now is that my ad costs are increasing as I scale. I can have my CPC go about by 40-50% and remain profitable, but any more than that and I will have to find new people to target, or new products to sell.

My total audience size is 18 million, so I'm not really concerned about running out of people to target. My main worry is that since the Facebook algorithm is delivering my ads to the optimal people right off the bat, that my ad costs will keep going up as I burn through the highest quality of my audience, and Facebook starts delivering my ads to people who are less likely to convert.

At the start of this campaign I was seeing CPCs of $0.2, and now it's all the way up to $0.35. I'm hoping that the price will stop increasing and level off around $0.4.
For those of who've scaled Facebook ads with an audience of this size, what sort of price increases should I expect to see as I continue scale?

I'm also using a tool called CompanionLabs (not affiliated in any way), which is supposed to reduce ad costs through a manual bidding strategy.

After CompanionLabs finishes working it's magic, I plan to increase my ad spend to $300+/day.

Hey man quick question, how did you go about improving your conversion rate? 16% is pretty goddamn high if you were to ask me. Mine is about 1% right now. Did you install certain plugins?

Focus more on making your site beautiful and branded, and focus less on excessive urgency/social proof plugins.
I am using the sales pop app to increase social proof, but in my experience most people go way too far with these plugins, and don't focus enough on making their sites look legit and branded.

Imagine that you're out on a date with a girl (or a guy, I don't judge), and all you talk about is how desirable you are, and how many girls like you. If you're poorly groomed, lacking confidence, and smell bad, this isn't going to make the girl like you.

First focus on making your site as sexy as possible, then add in some urgency/social proof in moderation.
