You think Ripple is done? think again.

I believe in Ripple, mainly because it's been validated by so many other organizations and brands. That has practically sealed its fate and survival.

Ripple is here to stay. I was sceptical of the coin at first. Centralised? 60% owned by the company? It rang alarm bells for me, but after further researching of the technology there is a clear use case and application for this crypto. I don't care how much money I've made from Ripple or will in the future, as I invested in the technology not the price. The past few weeks have been great, no doubt, and my investment has seen enormous gains. But even if Ripple were to lose 90% of its value overnight, I would still keep my investment because I'm sold on the technology.

Like it or not, Ripple is currently solving a real world problem and more and more organisations & financial institutions are becoming interested in the underlying distributed ledger technology, that is Ripple.

You can start your research by reading the whitepaper here: https://ripple.com/files/ripple_consensus_whitepaper.pdf

All the heat and personal remarks aside, @Sherbert Hoover's first post is really worth the thought. He may not like cryptos, that's his thing, let it be. But skepticism is necessary in all discourse, so that you don't blindly end up sleeping with a drag queen at 2am thinking it was a smoking hot russian girl. (unless that's your thing?)

Ok fine, it's a poor analogy. The point is, intelligent conversation should ALWAYS involve skepticism and critical thought.

I personally don't like xrp for the reasons mentioned: It's not decentralized (double negative points out a contradiction to most cryptos) and overall will not free us from global banking.

But.

Yes, I too am investing in it, and hoping to make some money, because it really is all just a game at the end of the day.
Still, kudos to Sherbert for not blindly following the mass (even if it is out of angst)

I have been following Ripple since it hit the major exchanges. One important fact that many proponents of it seem to miss is that while the Ripple technology itself is great, the use of the token itself is not necessary to take advantage of said technology. And since there is no significant direct incentive to use the token itself, I do not see any huge demand, apart from speculators, for the token from the institutions that plan to use the technology. Having said that, it is certainly possible to realize short term gains from all the hype surrounding it, just like almost any other token in today's bull market.

This is quite true. Most banks have interest purely in the tech behind Ripple which is the Ripple Payment Protocol, and not XRP coins itself. Most investors I don't think realize this difference.

And I think many people don't realize XRP was designed to be a stable less-speculative coin so it wouldn't bounce around in price like most other coins.

I think it might be overvalued as it's current price. Too much, too early. but we shall see.

Is it really over vauled if its going to be used in banks tho? Idk

Also kee in mind that 40% of ripples volume is on bithumb right now so at least today it should explode some more in a few hrs when the asians are up

True
But not every other token is up in todays market
In fact ripple and ada were one of the only ones who didnt really crash a few days ago when pretty much everything crashed 25%

Which shows that people really believe in them if that wasnt clear

Youre confused mate.
The masses are the ppl that dont invest or believe in crypto, not the other way around. The crypto market is tiny in comparison to mass markets.

I did some more research because @Sherbert Hoover and some other folks claimed ripple owners can sell everything in one day cuz they own over 60B Xrps...

So of course its absolutely false. it didn't make sense to me at the first place that such a huge issue wont be addressed, so i dived deeper and look at what ive found -

https://ripple.com/insights/ripple-...ow-to-ensure-certainty-into-total-xrp-supply/

So they placed 55 billion xrps' in escrow and are definitely NOT able to sell them all in the same day.... they cant crash it, even though i dont believe they did if they could..why would they crash their own company for a quick buck when their future is so bright and they're already millionaires... lol

Anyway, thought id share it cuz ppl read the BS in here and take it like its the holy bible...
Don't believe everything you read, not from Sherbert, me or any one else and always do ur own research.

But please, before throwing money into something, do your research.

...

Also, it's an escrow service... in their own ledger? And an article posted on the Ripple website? Written by the CEO of the company? Does that not sound like a three-toned conflict of interest to you?

Additionally, you surely didn't read the article Deleted member 923340 posted earlier, so here's a juicy bit for you:

In terms of interbank payments, many people mention Ripple as a promising way to transfer money between banks. Over the last 30 days it processed two billion dollars (as of this writing) worth of interbank and interpersonal transactions — about 40 seconds’ worth of volume on the SWIFT interbank network — after three years of being available to banks to trade 90% of the world’s high-volume currencies. This is like the proportion of US GDP comprised by toothpick sales. Why haven’t banks preferred this new technology? The answer is that setting up a Ripple Gateway isn’t actually much different than using the existing corresponding-account system — except that a lost password or security token can lead to much larger and more instant actual losses — which, as a reminder, has happened to more leading bitcoin exchanges than have managed to avoid it. The same features that make the banking system attractive to end users also make it attractive to banks. They already have ledgers, and don’t need to distribute them, anonymize them, encrypt them, publish them, and make them irreversible.

There is a valid reason why nothing has gone past "testing" and "partnering".

The reason nothing went past testing to partnering is because banks take forever to adopt technologies it wont happen overnight obviously theyll test it first

And about your “its all on their website” speculation see thats why i told u its a matter of opinion you either trust them or you dont lol

Of course its gonna be on their website where do u want this article to appear on apple.com? Cmon man :)

Is this thread still about Nipple coins?

Dude i plan to run with the thread until ripple hits $5
Should be February 2018 imo

Here, from the other thread:

Sherbet i got nothing against u bro u just gotta stop hating on crypto

I love how u complain that ripple is centralized and then u wont invest in bitcoin or the alts that are decentralized cuz its a “bubble”

So you got a ton of decentralized coins why wont u invest in any of these?

If youre gonna be a hater just admit it bro go on ebay.com and buy a shirt that says “ crypto hater” :) but dont make it seem like u know what ur talking about cuz obviously u didnt know most of xrps coins are in an escrow like u probably dont know that Jed already donated a ton of them anyway

I don't have to do anything. I'm not "hating", I'm stating facts and opinions, and backing up my reasoning every step of the way.

I have a few hundred dollars each invested in bitcoin, ethereum, and bitcoin cash right now. I could easily invest more or start foraying into other alt coins, but decentralization is not one of my concerns. My risk aversion keeps me from doing so. I have responsibilities and a family to provide for, so tossing funds at something as volatile as cryptocurrency just for the thrill of it, compared to a safer investment vehicle such as an index fund or large cap stock, is not a smart financial decision. I think we can both agree on that.

I honestly cannot believe that you are attempting to come across as knowledgeable with responses of "If youre gonna be a hater just admit it bro". What are you going to do, push me?

I was well aware of the XRP escrow, as I am well aware that they are in control of the escrow, not a third party. I also was aware of the founder's dealings with their own coin. I can assure you that I know far more about Ripple and XRP than you do.

If you find me the shirt, I will get it.

Lol buy the shirt herbert :) like i said maybe u know more about ripple, again i doubt it because i did research it for hours in the last few days

But again what matters is i bought it at 70 cents and u still dont have a position even though u know so much about it? Lol

F-ck Ripple

pE5wB2Z

Just joking, I like to flame a bit :D
I think u woke ripple up..

Still waiting for it to dip so i can buy more... seems like im gonna wait a while lol

And when Ripple does not hit $5 in February, you will come back and admit you are wrong?

Just a question.

My goal is recover a bit off Verge (already slightly back in profit (I think) I'm hoping the good old "Wraith" takes off at 23.59.pm "GMT" tonight as planned (supposedly).

Then my plan is Ripple for the add to Coinbase beginning of January.

I'm going to try and stick to these two gambles. Two gambles that are documented here. I'm not going to join the next hype thread pretending that these two losses never occurred.

See that is one of the big issues here. People are quick to claim success when it suits, and brush the rest aside.

Dude thats just a wild guess i dont have a crystal ball :D im just guessing we will see it at $5 in the beginning of next year but who knows... $5 is extremely realistic for ripple it gives it the current cap that BTC has...

Also no one knows for sure if its gonna be added to coinbase, its all speculation... keep that in mind if you're buying just for the coinbase part...

Forgive me if I'm wrong, as I have better things to do than follow crypto to the word.

However haven't the Ripple fanboys preached about banks, American Express....ect for years? Also from my "knowledge" Bitcoin Cash (Again I don't follow crypto too close) was added to Coinbase, was pumped and dropped like a sack of shit.

So in my "expertise" we would be better riding Ripple for 30 mins or so through Coinbase, then dumping it. Because of guess that is what is going to happen.
