I do understand both concepts but in the long run which is more reliable and probably secure with Google? I guess it is BUM marketing? In both cases you do use WEB2.0 properties to guide link juice to the sites. In addition, for BUM Marketing, you can use EZA to link directly to your money page as long it is not direct an affiliate page.

Also, in BUM marketing, you DO care about the quality of the articles, in Linkwheels not (although I think that should be also the case).

Anyone compared directly BUM Marketing (only ******** sites/pages) vs say a single 12 Properties ******** LINKWHEEL? What were the results?

I'd say that Bum Marketing was pretty much useless now for the amount of effort it takes. It can still make a bit of money but you may as well go and work for the man for the hourly rate you get.

I've built a couple of linkwheel type structures and these are making far more than the articles.

I think in linkbuilding we should not only rely on few strategies, but apply as many as possible. And yes your are right using proper content on Web 2.0 sites is beneficial because then you have a better chance of getting that Web 2.0 ranked for the keyword you targeting plus you also get some juice backlinks back to your main page.

It depends what you classify as bum marketing. Whether its pure article directorys or not.

In either case, they are almost identical. Its just that instead of waiting on ezine for a week to approve your article, you get it "approved" instantly with web 2.0 sites.

link wheels = bum marketing

bum marketing = using free resources

I completely agree. Writing good content about marketing products takes you back to a level of boredom only experienced in the 9-5 office.

Much better to take over a keyword with your spun crap and stick your affiliate links on the top.

Micallef, would you say that it is okay to have an affiliate link as your main hub (moneysite)?

Also, you stated in another post that only one of your money sites has ever achieved a higher spot than one of the web2.0 property sites. I thought the purpose was to have your moneysite achieve a high ranking, not the web2.0 site. If all that shows up on page #1 for my keyword was a practically unreadable spun web2.0 page, how would I expect anybody to click on the links?

Just a bit confused! :)

Well the secret is to target keywords where a simple "click here to save money on *product*" is enough - it's what they're looking for and it only needs to rank to get clicks. I don't go for keywords that need a sales pitch. The money site usually makes it onto page one but as I said, in all but one case, there has always been a web 2.0 in front of the money page.

Interestingly enough, i actually saw this in google serps the other day. The full clickbank hop link of an affiliate as an actual link in google. I guess it takes out one extra page, but you wont exactly be able to "optimize" the page.

Thanks for all the information, great. I do have however a few additional questions:

1. - What should be AVOIDED at all means in order to get penalized by Google either for your Web2.0 pages or as some said your Money Page (in case you link directly to your pre-sell page, as an affiliate)? One is to make only a small LINK WHEEL. What else?

2. - Is building Link Wheels BH or GH (in opposite WH: long term)?

3. - How many words long should be the Link Wheel 'articles'? How many paragraphs is best?

4. - Only one money making link (say on top, as per Micallef) or more? Same target.

5. - Do Link Wheels are also work good for 'info' products or should they rather be used only for 'products'? Anyone ever compared related conversation rates and ROI's?

6. - When can be expected a link wheel to work after setup and for how long into the future?

In fact there are even many more questions, but perhaps someone else can ask them. I'll wait a while :-) But I'm not afraid to ask ever, yet hopefully my question do not sound too 'Newbie'

And to Micallef, I appreciate all your past and future comments on the Link-Wheel issues very much too. It seems you are here in BH the one with the most 'Link Wheel' experience.

Nevertheless, to everyone, please provide as much input as possible regarding Link Wheels and especially regarding what has not yet discussed here at BH. What has worked for you and what not. Thanks again!

This is a perfect example of over analyzing. You are gonna get yourself to a point where you get information overload, and either won't take enough action, or won't get results you assumed should happen.

There is more than enough information on Link Wheels and how they work here in BHW. Just use the search feature.

Also, all the questions you ask can only be answered by you taking action, testing, and tracking your own results. This is the only way to find out what works for you in each and every promotion.

good thread got some unanswered questions answered.. time to start building my link wheel !!!

I have to agree with this. Now if we could just get into contact VIA yahoo msg we could get going on some free lancing for link wheels.

Can't wait to chit chat with you, let me know when you have time.

Yukinari84, I don't think there is such thing as over analyzing, at least at this point. Why not trying to get the missing links together? Making 'Big' mistakes only may trashes the project and waste time to make better money. As far I could see here and on the net, most 'BASIC' questions have been answered by large but why not go beyond of that and benefit from those who made their experience already? I will asked, even if all on BH would disagree with that.

By the way, I have started to register my properties. First actions are taken. Inactivity is not the question.

Still, I think replying to some of the questions would be helpful to me and others for better planing, I believe...

Your and other opinions are of course welcome, no matter if I agree to them or not!

As landonwiggs mentioned, I got some unanswered questions already answered. Keep on going that. No need to stop now :-)

But yes, testing what works is the final step. But there is no need to start with a bad or wrong foundation. The Link Wheel concept sounds easy, yet there are always questions as that with SEO and marketing always will be the case.

Get a good starting point is always my opinion...not whining when everything fails because the lack of it.

I think you missed the point to my answer. Yes, analyzing is great. But all the questions you have asked have 3 problems:

  1. They have all been answered here in BHW. Just searching for the term Link Wheel will bring more than enough answers for you.
  2. They cannot have a 100% solid answer because what works one time for one keyword in one niche may not work the same way for another. This is why testing is a must for link wheels.
  3. You do not want to keep doing the same thing over and over. Google will eventually catch on and your link wheeling methods will become less effective. You need to add variation and naturalization into the mix.

Well, I searched BH, and yes, I got many unanswered questions answered. But, of course not all. And yes, it is possible I missed a few replies. But I did searched, no question for that. And I do not think everything has been asked or answered yet.

I do not expect 100% solid answers. I'm aware that experiences do vary. Still, to read about different ones is useful. I'm very much aware that for every answer or reply there is one anywhere with a opposite opinion. The final choice is with me. And yes, I expect to test my setup.

I can only add variations if I know WHAT Google currently likes and what not. In that area I need to learn more and I'm not sure where. Hopefully here at BH

Thanks Yukinari for your input
