okay so yeah before you get all hot and bothered I may be a dumb ass... so what, that's no excuse for you....
When I saw all the questions.... hey I can't pm... I thought, yeah, well figure it out then.....
and in my own superior way I went about going through the forum to see what I could learn, confident that when the time came I of course would be able to PM
damn
I cannot and it occurs to me that if so many newbies are asking the same damn question... maybe the problem is not with the newbies
Case in point.... and please Apricot do not take this personally as I got a lot out of your welcome post explaining the different levels and what it takes to advance from one level to the next and what the privileges are... I will note however that in your intro to that post you referenced the all to familiar cry of the newbie... why can't I PM?..... and still newbie's do not understand. hmmmmmm
You do realize I am sure, that in your post that you claim is to answer such questions as "why can't I PM" you do not use the term "PM" even once?
The only logical assumption I can make and it is an assumption because you were not kind enough to spell it out, is that when you said
"Reply to a conversation"
and
"Start a conversation"
you were referring to PM privileges
I assume that you meant "conversation" is a PM..... ???? is that correct?
I am guessing BECAUSE I AM A NEWBIE
in which case I assume that as a newbie with less than 15 posts that, someone could PM me to start a conversation and I could reply to them
but
I could not "Start" a conversation with them by "PM"ing them .....until I have 15 posts which would make me a Newbie+
is that correct? hmmmmm not done ranting yet....
So how many posts do I have??? I notice that every time I post a comment on a thread my message count goes up......does that mean that a post is also a message?
I can readily see that I have 17 "messages"..... of course no where in your post defining the rules do you talk about "messages"... so once again I am assuming that by "messages" the site actually means, "Posts"... of course I have no idea
BECAUSE I AM A NEWBIE
So, not knowing I assume that by "messages" you mean "posts" so in order to PM someone I get busy "messaging" .... making comment on threads I find of interest..... and blessed day.... I see my message count climbing.... yeah it goes above 15.... yeah!!!
Am I now able to PM someone? hmmm apparently not. So I am left to wonder which of my assumptions is off???
of course IF in the post that was written to explain the answers to questions like "why can't I PM?" the answer was readily apparent I wouldn't have written this horribly annoying rant....
of course I am most likely lost at sea and there is a perfectly reasonable and logical explanation...
tell me I am lost and the following is soooo wrong
Conversation = PM
and
Post = Message
Cause the way it looks to me, I am just supposed to know that when you call Tom, Fred that you actually meant Tom
okay so I'm ready... go ahead and tell me why I'm an idiot and what exactly it takes in order to PM and how it was so obvious if only I had a brain
Thank you
