In one post you say that the incoming backlinks are mostly from other tumblrs "which is a good indication that the previous blogger was active"

But then in another post you say that the Tumblr's "usually don't have content on them?"

why would there be NO content if the previous blogger was active?

Sorry if this is a newbie question, but I am unfamiliar with expired tumblr's

If you could refer the specific posts, I could be better.
I assume I was saying that the blogs now don't have content on them, since they are re-registered. Just like an expired domain is. When you register it again, the previous content won't be there. You can try waybackarchive and maybe they saved the page content, in case you want to get that content back-up.
For expired web20's is pointless to put back the content, as most of the times previous content is not niche related.
So it is easier to post content related to your niche, let google index the new content and then post your link.

Email accounts might not work. There are no ramifications, as the web2.0 accounts are not affected.
My guarantee is for the web2.0 (tumblr, weebly, overblog) accounts.

Plus you can always change email and password of the account from tumblr settings, if you like.
Also, tumblr never asks for email re-verification after account is created.

My Tumblr account which was tied with .com domain has stopped appearing. When I go to www.......com it appears an Error 404 tumblr page. Does it mean I am banned or what? How to check that?
