So I'm trying to make portable Firefox profiles.

Anyone has any tips on how I can best do this?

Can't be the type you have to install. Just a little folder where the profile lives, easily movable or deletable. To be able to run even different versions of Firefox on each of the portable ones.

I've been using this method for a long time. I have all my firefox browsers (about 25 of them) on v56.0 of Firefox, where the iMacro extension worked. I have disabled automatic updates on all.

My main Firefox got kinda slow and problematic, so I updated it to v57.0, expecting it to not interfere or update any of my other separate profiles (as I had set them all to not auto-update). However now, when I first open any of my other profiles, it auto-updates. So it fucked me!

I don't wanna deal with this. Portable seems the only and best choice I have. I don't want those Firefox profiles linked to the same installation. I want portables, completely separate from each other.

I keep looking.

you could try just using MozBackup, minimizing each profile into a single cookies file and restoring it (20 second proccess max) when needing to access the portable browser

I figured it out. Transferring all my Firefox profiles to portables now. I love it. Why didn't I figure this out sooner I don't know. I spent so much time after a recent format installing all my firefox profiles again and plugins and settings edits to each profile, took me quite a while of repetitive boring work.

I've learned a lot today, this will make my life easier, it's a good day :)
