  • Noticed that Ethereum is climbing in its value, I am happy about that as its my primary hold right now, I am hoping the price climbs further with its hard fork on the 16/17th and then climbs again after DevCon3 the first week of next month.
  • Did a few posts on a bunch of my forum accounts to keep them warm for future traffic leaking.
  • Received the last of my filler content and posted it out to the PBN/BN.
  • Spent some time updating one of my Trello boards to make tracking progression better.
  • Noticed that some of the posts on the PBN aint indexing very well without a push so I may look towards getting an indexing service to give them a push. I will leave it till mid next week before making a decision to see how some split tests go.
  • Listened to Audible while taking notes. Been slacking the past few days due to reading so much crypto stuff.
  • Setup a numbers with a pie chart to better track the spread of my Crypto portfolio as linked below. I feel I am massively over extended on Ethereum/ERC20 tokens right now. The plan is to increase my bitcoin holdings if bitcoin dips after its fork as it is a crazy price right now, I think I will try a flip into a rebuy when it starts to crash. I have been researching different ways to diversify the portfolio and I will I will mix a bunch of tactics for my own liking. Currently, I am thinking of 33% in Bitcoin and 33% in Ethereum as my super long term holds in an attempt to store value while gaining a better interest rate than a bank. I am then thinking of around 15% in OmiseGo and potentially 15% in ChainLink (no holdings yet but I might drop cash into them tomorrow), especially if the confirm a deal with Stripe next week as I can see their price increasing. That leaves me with around 4% that I may keep as TenX or I may get rid and add an extra 2% to OmiseGo and ChainLink. One think that I have been thinking is to have two totally separate crypto portfolios if my SEO stuff works. The one above that is designed for long term holding and investment and another that is based around ICOs, flipping and short term trades, if I do make the second portfolio then I will probably start another journey thread dedicated to it.

All Bridge Network and PBN content has now been posted so I have little to do now other than wait and see how my two main sites perform so I am stopping the daily updates as I only plan to be listening to Audible and researching Crypto. I do still plan to add a monthly update to the journey to log how the sites perform month by month. Here is a break down of where the money site network is currently at...

  • Six domains totally abandoned due to a number of reasons. Stuff like blasing non-contextuals to them from SER, exact match anchor texts SAPE, public blog network links , auto generated content in their tiers and a number of stuff like that. No big deal, and those tests have helped strengthen my remaining sites.
  • Two main domains I have high hopes for with pages boosted in a number of ways.
  • Two domains that I have duplicated the methods of my main domains on but they are targeting much higher competition keywords so I dont expect much but time will tell.
  • One adsense domain (not made during the journey thread) that was hit by a bunch of stuff last year but still limps on brining in $50-$100 per month, I have added a few new test articles to it that follow the same principals of my new keyword research/onpage techniques in a hope to grow its traffic.
  • One domain that was hit by Fred that I have tried and failed to recover multiple times but I decided to give it one last try by using the same principals of my new keyword research/onpage techniques.
  • My personal blog I haven't added anything to it for months but it still brings in a bit each month and I currently have no plans to add any more content to it until I start uploading videos to my YouTube channel next year. I am currently classing this journey thread as the R&D phase of growing my money site network. I have learned more in the past 6 months or so than I have in over four years of focusing on link building as a hobby. Even my two main domains were used for testing a number of things and have had a bunch of stuff done to them that I won't be repeating on future domains. If the current money site network keeps climbing as it is and starts to bring in money then I plan to move into my scaling phase that will be tracked in the journey thread but also on my YouTube channel. As part of the marketing strategy for the YouTube channel I will be typing up articles for various videos and adding them to my blog (thats the only plans for new content for it I currently have) as well as other sites to leak traffic to the channel and hopefully grow it to become an income source also while essentially using stuff I already do on a daily basis for video content with a tutorials, cast studys and such added in.

hi @Shaunm
i am thinking to build a "low quality pbn grid" for my tier 2/3 that can be used to push my tier 1 web 2.0 properties. i think i shall need about 50 domains in this.

can you suggest something for cheap hosting. i don't have a big budget, and seo seems to be getting expensive every day.

Loving the journey.
Are you doing this full time or as a side project

I just use an unlimited domain shared hosting plan and mask everything with cloudflare these days. I'm keeping my eye on the Substratum network too as in theory that is perfect for masking a PBN.

Full time now, I left my job to scale everything just before Fred hit so this journey is essentially me developing everything from scratch again.

Nice did you have much of a base financially to be able to do it? or is it an all or nothing type ride

Well I was going to put a deposit down on a house but I decided to gamble and try start my own business in stead. Not really a fan of the whole house, wife and kids life style and I rather try get an online income going and do the whole digital nomad thing.

This is my current budget for the IM thing with around $1000 having being spent on a cartoon YouTube project I dropped but having a bunch of art made for my personal YouTube channel instead now.

I have recently also put some cash into crypto currency that is not shown on that budget. I also have reserves left over for scaling as it looks like I have two solid sites that have doubled in traffic the past few month so I am hoping they are earning by Christmas.

NIce one - i already have the wife and kid and house should be bought by november. I freelance in surveying and hope to have enough of a buffer to move full time online from april next year (if doesnt work can jump back to freelance in real world again)
Would love to get to a point maybe not digital nomad but it doesnt matter where I live I can still earn point so see how it goes.
Good luck with your journey

hi @Shaunm
i am spending some time on your blog.
the link graph that you have drawn here http://shaunmarrs.com/black-hat-seo-march-17/
what gsa engines do you use for "contextuals" and which ones for "non contextuals" ?

it would be great if you could add the post date under the post title. i can't explain exactly why but it helps me a lot.

I don't give out the exact engines anymore but contextuals come from the article, social network and wiki platforms with non-contextuals coming from blog comments, guestbooks and image comments.

hi shaun, in this tutorial, http://shaunmarrs.com/how-to-filter-your-gsa-search-engine-ranker-lists/

you have mentioned that if we view the verified urls of a project and select some and then right click delete, the urls are deleted from the sitelists ?
have i read it correct ? the urls will be removed the Verified Site Lists folder ?

Monthly update for October, both my main sites seem to have aged in now as seen in the analytics profile with large traffic spikes to both of them, I am hoping next month will have an over all increase of around 20% traffic ontop of what they pulled this month but I don't expect it to increase as much as it has been. Adsense income is down as I was testing different adsense placements and my adsense site seems to have been hit by one of the October algo updates. Crypto portfolio is down ever so slightly due to buying in high in OmiseoGo and Chainlink in relation to their current positions. I believe in OmiseGo and its part of my Five year plan but I may flip the Chainlink into more OmiseGo.

I have decided to do some additional tests with my new keyword research method (Old keyword research method tutorial here if you havent read it yet) and onpage techniques but those test articles arnt online yet. I have been tracking some of the test articles from a few month back and it seems that individual articles on the domains also have an aging in time now with the majority of the secound round of articles on the sites only starting to pickup traffic after around three month so I doubt I will see much from these new articles until after christmas now.

I decided to share my top 10 SERP positions for my two main sites but this is pretty irrelevant with my new keyword research method as its more theme based articles rather than specific keyword so i'm not sure if I will keep sharing SERP positions in the coming month and may just move over to tracking site performance via Analytics and Amazon/Adsense dashboards.

I have been doing a little math and I think content and PBN domains will offer a stronger ROI than crypto for the following year so I may actually sell all of my crypto to scale scale my IM side of things quicker depending how things are doing after Christmas. If I feel I have a reason to scale the IM side of things then I still plan to start vlogging and posting tutorials on my YouTube channel to better document the scaling process from an early stage.

I forced myself to take the last week off with regards to working as I needed a break and I plan to take the first week of November off too. I have kept upto date with my maintenance schedule and listening to Audible but other than that I have pretty much been catching up with friends and family and playing Diablo 2 LOD offline (preying for a Diablo 2 remake announcement in blizcon next week like they did for Starcraft!).

[edit] - Just a quick edit as I have had a few people ask on threads and social media. The income and analytics below are not from my personal blog they are from additional websites in my portfolio that I have in other niches. The income from my personal blog is spread out over a bunch of affiliate programs and in all honesty, I just cant be bothered to log into them all to see how much it made but as the money is pushed to my paypal/bank account the Quickbooks screenshot will start to show it. :)

Just a small update as I have done a fair bit today but still just keeping to monthly updates.

  • More money pages are jumping onto the first page so I have been analysing them ready to try and scale why they worked, I think I have narrowed it down.
  • Ordered 10 new money page articles for my main site that include as many of these characteristics as possible. Although I should have them all online by the back end of next week, I don't expect to know if they worked for 6-8 month.
  • Ordered some new T1 content for the BN/Manual Web 2.0s for some of the new money pages I ordered.
  • I still get one or two people a week inboxing me or messaging me on social media about SER, I posted my experiences with SER the past few month in this thread yesterday and plan to just link people to that from now on.
  • I have been attempting to workout a new way to automate my keyword research method but in all honesty, the AHRefs keyword tool gives very similar results to what my own method comes up with but it is so much quicker saving my time. I think for future sites I will just get an AHRefs subscription for a month and throw all my free time at it to bank as many keywords as possible for future sites.
  • I have set a goal of reaching $1000 on Amazon.com in a single month with my current round of test sites. If I meet that then I plan to buy the required equipment to make videos and I plan to start uploading stuff to my YouTube channel.
