How this site is ranking at the top?

It's a poorly designed site with very little content, yet it ranks well and has decent domain and page authority. It has nearly 2000 keywords ranking on page 1 of Google and earns about $8k in organic clicks! Anyone have any ideas about what's going on here?

hard to say without more details, but could be a PBN as previously suggested if you cant see anything else.. or its all low competition keywords

I believe that site may have some quality links pointing back to it. Long gone were the days where you can fire up a link building tool and watch your site increase in its SERP ranking on a weekly basis, as it appears that the big G has finally addressed the churn and burn issue. Links from overspammed sites are now worthless, and those link list purchased are no longer effective. Furthermore, it's so difficult to even get a decent amount of good links from those list.
Well PBN would be one of the contributing factors. But I'm guessing there's also a possibility that 301 links from quality sites were used as well - sites that have TF>25-35 DA/PA>35-45.

It could be you are either over-optimizing your anchors or your content is way too optimized. I have ranked and tanked many sites using BHW services. And I have learnt one thing. Don't over use your anchors, you will not rank, or not rank for a long time.
