Sure, which platforms do not provide a link? For a social signal to be effectively tied to the site there needs to be a connection. With web likes this is obvious but the others it is not. For example with pinterest there needs to be a link for it to be counted as a social signal

If there was no connection between the link and the social profiles, search engine and the API's would never be able to determine how many times a link has been shared. Here is the API call for Pinterest for example

Talking about SEO, there has to be no direct relation between a link and a social signal to be effective. Anything that is crawlable by google plays a role in the search rankings.
