What is your technique in writing long form blogs?

Well, the average no. of words/article on most of the blog posts ranking on Page 1 is someone near 2000. This was a case study performed by marketers.

And why not? People love detailed posts; specially "how-to" guides. SEO in 2017 doesn't reward thin content with keyword stuffing anymore. A long form blog post possibly with some really good infographics, images will definitely retain visitors on your post for a long time.

Maybe ask questions and give recommendations at the end of your post. This will drive huge engagement though blog comments.

What really matters is quality of your content over quantity. Long boring contents have really less chance of being viewed by people at the same time they may not find short posts enough for them to be informative. So create your content till it is attractive as well as posses everything that needs to be addressed.

It seems the long form has become more and more popular in the serps. One reason could be a longer form (if well done) covers the topic in more depth, and therefore could be considered more authoritative.

Some bloggers are becoming crazy with the long form, writing 5k+ or even 10k+ words. I think there is a limit, beyond a certain length it becomes an ebook, and it is not a post anymore.

In any case nowadays it is recommended to write longer articles, well researched and helpful, and google should reward you for that.

Write around 1200+ words per article to get good ranking as well as some nice authority by delivering value for readers/visitors.

Definitely long posts, at least 1500 words. But quality is more important that word count, so I wouldn't just spin a long article and publish in hopes of ranking.

Generally, an easy way to add content to make the post longer is to add some FAQs at the bottom of the post with related questions/answers. This lets you target long-tail keywords quite easily.

Also, there's a way to try and get Google to feature your snippet (position #0) with question/answer content - it's been discussed on a different thread here and worth looking into (haven't gotten to test it myself yet).

It's unfortunate, why many experts keep on supporting long-form posts, they still write short ones. If you don't format your texts very well and skillful in getting attention of visitors, you'll lose conversion. I do write long contents but I'm beginning to make my article not more than 1200 words. I don't have much time to explain why!

I prefer long post with more images and videos with engaging content is better for readers and for google.

Until and unless your post contains exactly what the readers could digest, the length doesn't really matter. Don't forget to include attractive images and infographics which will prevent the viewers to be bored. Another important factor is your creativity. Use it on your post to drive traffic. Keep in mind that quality is always valued. The quantity doesn't matter if it is a low quality post.

While it might seem tough to break beyond the 400 to 800-word posts, it can definitely be done with practice and persistence.

How would you guys create a engaging post or say a killer content? Is there any precise tools that helps in creating such contents?
First thing first- Selection of popular topic for content writing is must. Once interesting topic is selected, create attractive and unique contents that differs you from others. Inclusion of pictures, videos or infographics can be helpful. Finally, use familiar keywords so that people can easily find your articles.

A simple technique : hire a native writer who knew this technique :)

Thanks for the tag @Bijay Ghimire.

The best "tool" that I use to create an engaging content is "logic". Ask yourself what you audience actually wants from your content. That's what I always tell to my students.

Well, it's simple!

Your content should be "problem solving". And if your article can really solve a problem, you win your audience trust.

Result?

He can't resist himself from sharing your content to his friends/audience. And you get maximum exposure.

Here's an article that I've written about "http://earnwithanish.com/seo-content-writing-guide/" practise every content writer must not miss out!

I hope this helps!

Cheers!

What do you think short post bring more engagement or long form of post brings more engagement?
Please share you Ideas? :) :) :)

This depends on the place you're putting your content.
When people say "write long content" they're generalizing the concept.

Content depends on the topic you're writing about.

How could you write 2000 words article on "How to Create a Gmail Account"?

The problem is people are overdoing this method. If they'll try to write about the topic i just told you. They'll start from Intro then History of Gmail and then they'll stretch the whole method to meet the "requirements".

Simply don't overdo it. People will find the content boring if they can't find 'to the point info'.

Now in case you're writing about something like product reviews, IM tutorials, Making Money, etc. then you've the chance to exceed 2000 words or more.

Why you ask? Because here the reader needs the full info as every bit of it is important.

Use subheadings, Start with a Intro, then the body, and then your conclusion.

Use catch phrases like: "Here's the deal", "I bet you" and many more to engage your user.

Use images, infographics to color up your content.

I hope it may help you. :)

content and people interest in topic is what makes engagement, not depend on article length.

Whether your blog is short or long, that does not matters. It depends on the quality and uniqueness of your blog. If you will post the unique contents with the quality then it's 100% sue that your website will get the more number of visitors.

You should have the best technique of content representation so your blog will attract the users easily. You should make the best digital marketing of your blog so it will reach to the people easily. Title of the blog should be clear that the user should come to know the purpose of the blog.

I would say the optimized post of around 1500 words is just enough. You certainly don't want to bore your reader. A well-written post with all the information will not go above 1500 words. Include photos and infograpics.

To get a killer post you will have to see what is trending in market and research on keywords for their search volume. Once you have selected an appropriate keyword, the hard work is ranking the keyword with proper backlinks.

This entire thread is a joke.

Normally, I'd leave this type of content in the infraction notes, but it's easier to format it here. That, and I like calling out people like this publicly, anyway.
