Have anyone used Imgur as parasite before? I was amazed when I was doing keyword research and found this keyword of 1k searches (kind of low competition) just to see IMGUR link ranking on #3 for that specific keyword.

What it had? Just the keyword and the keyword as text in the picture (and some spam text after that).

What are your thoughts on this?

What's the link? Was it very clearly spam? Or something like a comment below an image that might have been linked to from Reddit or elsewhere? Imgur's very popular on Reddit and it's usually linked in a way so that you don't even see the title/description from Imgur when you view it while browsing Reddit. It could be powered by a highly upvoted Reddit post.

Kind of want to try this now. Thanks for the idea/suggestion...

Sorry I am not willing to reveal the link :/ as it would reveal the niche I am in which I don't want atm :P but it was embedded link that ranked and it had like 50% spam text and 50% somehow related.

I really doubt it could be powered by reddit post since the niche has really low community on reddit but am not saying its not possible.

Imgur was ranking like crazy last year, they were great parasites, i have not seen 1 rank on page 1 for months now to be honest.

Didn't know that :) well might be worth a try playing around with it again.

Reddit dropped them as an image host so they dropped quite a bit

The key to seo is the test for yourself really

In semrush Imgur ranks similarly as last year. They still get around 3-4 milion visitors from organic traffic, while last year it was a bit more. 4-5 milions.

Never rely solely on data from any of these companies, your eyes will show you what is really ranking :)

It is only possible that count of keywords ranking in top from imgur 10 has decreased even more. But for that I need a premium report ... filtyered by top 10 rankings.

Actually not I found the way, so Imgur should be pretty good now. I mean the kw count in top 10 has actually increased.

I have done a little test and maybe Imgur could be a profitable platform.

I post a pic with some tags, I share it publicly and in seconds I have several likes and comments. No reddit sharing needed.

With a planned content (title, description, tags, links, pics,...) it could be good for sharing affiliation links.

In addition you can create a gif from a video or write a caption/meme in a pic.

From my experience you'll get called out and downvoted to hell if you use affiliate links.
But go ahead and do your thing

Imgur is a good parasite. I actually remember seeing a guide where a member was talking about imgur as a parasite.
Another really nice parasite I like to use is github. Would definitely recommend it.

Affiliate links, cpa, promote your fiver gigs, drive traffic to YouTube channel.
I know the risk of being downvoted. But if you offer something interesting and related to the pic and you work hard on the copywriting and on the funnel (landing page, interesting YouTube videos,...) this risk could be minimized.

If you use poor pics and texts and the link redirects you to a awful landing page or to not related content/offers and in addition spam the platform posting your shit every few minutes, you will be not only downvoted but banned.

My buddy uses imgur and it works fine, try creating a good solid conent to drive people with.
