Few key points that I took from this blog post:

1. Content and backlinks are the top two ranking signals still, and thus are as important as ever.

2. Dwell time is something that google is very keen on, average time spent on site for top 10 results is over 3 minutes. This combined with CTR make up Google’s 3rd most important signal.

3. Google move results further up the serps than they naturally would in order to test their CTR and dwell time.

4. Rich media, especially video, is more important than ever.

5. Contextual relevance of content is more important than ever and long form content works well to achieve this.

6. Blog comments (on your own site) are very important as google use them to measure engagement - apparently this is a better ranking signal than offsite comments (social media for example).

Unless you own facebook, any post on facebook... is offsite.

Yeah but still - some of the facebook comments (on your website ) might be indexed if you have right plugin.
Just check cache of your website and you will see if you have it correctly installed.

I guess so, if you make them look real. I suppose its a bit like how Google look for reviews on eCommerce sites?

There was a plugin being sold here, by @Jared255 that generated comments for your site, but when I searched it up, the thread is now closed.
