Hi guys.

Just had a question regarding a business we manage. They had some bad press articles from a year ago. So now everytime you google their business name, those articles come out on the first page.

We have been doing heavy SEO for about 6 months(backlinks etc) and ranking other pages on our site for the Business name keyword, to try to out rank those sites to the first page. But it is been slow and we can barely keep the main website page on the first page. The other pages are on the 2nd page.

Basically, I need to know if there is some way to push those article results to the 2nd page or better rank the other pages for the Business name keyword.

Thank you for your advice guys.

I suggest that you scan those bad press articles and check out the keywords that were used. You may use your new articles as a direct response to each negative press release. You may also consider using the Google Keyword Tool to help you use the Business Name plus the right keywords on the title and the content itself.

Also, be active on all social media accounts. Create fresh posts during prime hours.

The solution to pollution is dilution! The more water you're in the easier it is drown. The more content you post the more content gets indexed. Try populating knowledge base, local forum etc with messages you care more and less about. Eventually your messages drown or rather bury the negative. You got to be committed to click thru ten pages of search engine results haha

OP basic seo stuff not going to work, you better hire a rep management agency. You need to go blackhat way to push those articles to 2nd page.

I would suggest you to audit that press article. Then you may get idea to rank that business website.

Ranking your own site's pages is only one step in the ORM battle, you should also create content (in all types of formats: infographics/pics, videos, press releases, 2.0's. etc.) to rank for off-site also. The grey to blackhat way would extend these two strategies above by building backlinks to both onsite and offsite content that is already ranking for the brand keywords, or that you want to start ranking for - further drowning out the negative resultsand pushing them lower.

Thanks for the advice. Is there any one on these forums offering any such services that would help in this matter?

Might be worth reading through this thread, where @BHopkins goes into some really nice detail on ORM.

A cheap way to try and knock a page out all together, is simple go over to seoclerks[dot]com and do a search for: PBN

I can almost guarantee at least half of the PBNs listed there are old and deindexed. They sell them to the suckers without a care in the world. Pick out ten of the cheapest PBN services and blast some links to the page you want to get rid of, using some "adult" terms as backlinks. Even if you find a few that at aren't deindexed, they will be deindexed in the next month or two. Mass PBNs don't last long. Worst case, you're not out a lot of money.

I would echo most of the suggestions here with the exception of trying to negative SEO. I've seen negative SEO push a page up more often than knocking it down.

Quality content with quality links will usually do the trick. This is obviously oversimplified, but that's the goal.

If you can create great content, publish on great sites and push up with great links you'll have a winning strategy that will keep the negatives down long-term.

Just wondering, what would you use to scan keywords that were used to rank a page?
