I know, cpa + YT is my next project. But as of now for my traffic and type of videos, AdSense is better.

There was a giveaway of free subscribers here on BHW. Since it is free, I took it.

Since the progress is slow at the initial stages, I decided to post per week. When there is a big change, I will definetely post.

i would think that targeting your own country, Ethiopia, would not earn you very much at all in advertising revenue. doesnt Ethiopia have one of the lowest CPM's in the world?

You are right. My plan is to start with low competition to gain subscribers and then growing in to making international videos. How do you see this plan?

Yeah your plan also is good but youtube is not easy at it may sim it will take you a year or 2 to achieve this kind of goal but it will depend on your niche also if you are lucky to get suggested.

One advice for you is consistent uploading on youtube. Try upload new videos , like 1 video every 2 day or 1 video per day if you have idea.
Of course you can follow your schedule, but you know for a week you should have from 3 to 5 videos.

UPDATE

This thread has not been updated for a year and 4 months. Here is my story short.
When I started my youtube channel, the minimum requirement before monetization was 10,000 views. I was growing my channel to reach that amount of views. As soon as I do around January last year, YouTube changed its requirement to 4000 watch hour and 1000 subscribers in 365 days. That time I almost gave up and lost my interest on Youtube. Months have passed. I then decided to continue my channel after some months. I started uploading videos and promoting my channel. My videos were country-specific compilation videos and animation videos. Some videos went viral up to 200k views. My channel grew fast and reached 1k subs and 4k watch hour on may. I then applied for monetization. I keep on waiting and waiting to get a response from Youtube. But,, no luck. At that time YouTube was on a mess. It had an incredible amount of monetization requests. Lots of channel owners were complaining. Months have passed with no response. Again, I diverted my focus from YouTube and started other projects.

On December 2018, after 8 months of my request, I received an email from Youtube. Sadly, my application was rejected due to stolen content. I had 12 compilation videos and 4 animation videos. I guess the Compilation videos got me into trouble.

As we know, you can reapply for the monetization program after 30 days of rejection. I deleted all 12 compilation videos from my channel and left with 4 animation videos. After a month I reapplied and got a congratulation email within 3 weeks. It was 9 or 10 days ago.

I have now a monetized account with 4 videos.

Stats of my channel

Total views = 574,695
Subscribers = 10,348
Earning = $3.71

I average daily views of 1.5k and earning of $0.30. The reason for such low earning was the views of my country. Most of my views are from Ethiopia, which has such a low CPM.


As you can see, I got 1.2$ from 604 views from the USA. That is $2 CPM. But, from Ethiopia, I only get $0.63 from 13k views. I would get 26$ if they were from USA.

My next to do list

- Upload more videos
- Try to get more views from USA, UK, Germany, Australia and other similar countries.

Current - $0.30 per day

Took a look at this thread. I am not a YT expert by any means but I will give my opinion as a YT user.
Your plan has a major flaw!
-Your channel has not a specific niche-
I would never subscribe or watch videos of a mixed channel.
I would only watch their videos only if they appeared on my YT first page. And that my friend, is extremely hard. You have to create a video that goes viral. If you plan on earning money from viral videos, you will fail.
Viral videos get viral by chance. That's how I see it.
If you want my suggestion, delete everything and make your channel targeted to a specific niche. It doesn't matter what, but it has to be like this.

I guess my channel's general niche is "Ethiopia funny videos". It has a good search volume. I am just using a sub-niche of Ethiopian funny animation videos. My 4 videos have an average of 150k views each.

Update

I started to average $0.50 per day. I have added one video. I have now 5 videos on my channel. Long way to achieve my goals. But, if I keep working hard, I believe I can reach my goals.
