I have a website with DR 45, CF 26 TF 18 and around 10,000 words in content, but when checking Ahrefs, the website is ranking for around 40 keywords and according to google search console only about 47 keywords.

Earlier this year it was ranking for 300 keywords, with only 4000 words of content with less metrics.

For some reason I thought with that DR I would be doing much better! I have two other websites with less DR respectively with less content showing up for more keywords. My competitors have less Metrics but ranking for at least 10,000 keywords.

Whats going on?

It could be one of several things.

The DR is the metric used by Ahrefs to show the strength of a domain based on it's backlink profile. Higher DR = Best domains to get links from but that doesn't mean the domain will rank better on Google. Check the UR instead. Higher UR rating = more backlinks to the url = higher chances to get it ranked. The spammy links to the url shouldn't be taken into account as well.

The age of content and relevancy. You said the site ranked well before a year. That doesn't mean it should hold it's ranking forever. There are more and more peoples publishing fresh new content for your niche/keyword and Google will favour them if they did better on-site optimisation even with much less backlinks.

It's a metric and it serves as a filter to estimate the power of the domain. That's all it does. With your money site, the only thing that matters is traffic. Not TF not UR not DR not WTF.

If you want a better estimate of your traffic, and how it evolved over time, use Semrush.

This ^^^. A metric is just a metric but google uses many of their own metrics (hundreds), plus then use AI, which in itself is beyond any metric.

Take your main keywords, see who is on page 1 and try to understand why. Do they have better content. What is their DR compared to yours. DR should give you a good idea of overall site strength, so compare yours and theirs (not yours and another site of yours). DR comparison is only one test, or use DA as well, to have an idea of the strength of your competitors.

I can understand ahref majestic matric you can easily understand exactly report for website.

With several hundreds of metrics used by Google in determining your rank for specific content on your site, those few metrics represent a portion of the entire picture.
Not sure about Ahrefs, but sites with high TF in excess of 30 and above, do have better ranking power and authority to sites that has TF less than 20 and below.
Think of TF as Pagerank - TF 30 perhaps equal to PR3 and so. I recon a PR4 site is quite powerful in terms of authority, link mojo and ranking power.

It doesn't matter whether Ahrefs/moz give a better ratings. Check in your google search console for Search terms, CTR, position.
Ahrefs is definitely useful for the backlink analysis.

This makes alot of sense, competition was outworking me, they do have more than 200,000 words on there website.

I agree, traffic is the more important metric. I just assumed that those metrics tell me if i'm going towards getting traffic.

i did compare my websites metrics with competitors, and they were either even or less. But they have much more content. So that maybe a factor.

I can see that, there are some things I overlooked, such as on page optimization and the volume of content as well.
