Hello Folks,

I have started dropshipping from Aliexpress to eBay a month ago. Today I have just made my first $5 item sold ($2 profit).

On eBay, I have my address stated as California, US. A buyer from Las Vegas paid for the item. I made a purchase of the item from Aliexpress and I am waiting till I get the confirmation from Aliexpress to confirm the shipment of my item on eBay.

The buyer did not provide me with the phone number in the address (not n PayPal neither), which I needed in Aliexpress, and I did not want to contact and ask for it because they might not want to share it, so I simply put +1 999-999-9999 instead.

I am thinking to send a message to the buyer and thank her for purchasing the item, telling that the item is going to be shipped soon and remind her to leave me a Positive feedback once the item is received. Or shall I wait to send this message once I confirm the item shipment?

I hope I had not done any mistake here. I appreciate any advice and feedback from you.

Thank you!

P.S. I wonder if that the buyer would be impatient and leaves me a negative feedback as he might be expecting the item to arrive quick (my location stated the USA) while the item is coming from China and should take up from21- 40 days.

^ up to 41 days, thats a lot , just say that due to the hurricane the shippment may be late so dont worry , etc

Congrats on your first sale mate.

You need to change the strategy of your business, just think if you were the buyer will you wait 40 days for a item?

What method are you shipping it by ?
Isn't E-packet quicker?

:) Brilliant! This is a pretty helpful tip. I keep this in mind. Thank you silverleafy!

Thank you! to be honest, I bought stuff from China and I was passionately waiting for the item to arrive. I just went for it cuz it was cheap. I would issue a refund, if ever, and make it as a gift for a positive feedback. You're right, I should focus on Amazon prime stuff soon.

Absolutely! Epacket is much quicker but unfortunately, the seller does not provide that option, I chose China Post Ordinary Small Packet Plus
There are other options for shipment but that would cost way more than the product price itself. I better select my items more carefully next time I guess.

just sell only items that have e-packet if they buy a item that cost much more than 5$ after 15-20 days they will start to chargeback the money , so be careful

It does make sense. My whole interest was to get a positive feedback with selling cheap items. I went for that item as it was somehow unique on eBay. I take your advice forward, I better modify the rest of my items and make sure to opt for Epacket for those above, let's say $4. i appreciate it!

Updates!

The purchase was made last Friday and the seller, on Aliexpress, did not ship the item until now.
I have contacted him yesterday and he said he would ship it within 24 hours.
So I marked the item as shipped just now, but I saw a notification that the shipment is 2 days overdue.
I was supposed to mark it as shipped since Monday, but you know who's behind this delay.
I gave a positive feedback to the buyer and sent him a thanking message reminding him of giving us a positive feedback once the item is received highlighting the open communication between us.

So, will this delay in shipment affect my account status or anything as a beginner?
Is there anything missing I should have done or I better add up?

Thank you!

Just say that you ship your item and you are good

That's what I've said; the item was shipped and it should be there soon. Fingers crossed not to take too long. thanks mate.

Can you provide a tracking number to the client?
I do have the tracking number but I did not include it in eBay yet because the buyer will see that the item is coming from China and not from the USA as he was expecting. Maybe that's the reason why he made a purchase thinking it would be a quick delivery. Shall I put the tracking number or keep it in case he complains about the delay?
